| 16-4-2009 - 6 weeks postpartum! | My mood while writing this blog:Exhausted |
Warning--May be TMI in some parts!
Well I had my 6 week pp appointment today. My blood pressure is still pretty high which irritates me beyond belief. I have literally been to my OB every week since Greyson was born because of this stupid blood pressure. I feel like I live there! The medication I'm on has been helping, but she doubled it today hoping it would finally get this under control. So anyway I answered a bunch of questions the nurse asked and told her I had started my period on Monday. I told her at least I thought it was since I had stopped bleeding around 3-4 weeks and then this started on Monday. I was amazed there were no cramps involved though. I used to get horrible cramps on the first day of my period and with this I didn't get anything. I hope it continues to be this way!
Then I had to disrobe which is nothing to me after having a baby and flashing all my goods to everyone at the hospital lol. My doctor did a breast exam and a pelvic exam. She went to do the pelvic exam and noticed I was on my period and she was like "oh you're on your period?" and I'm like "yeah" and she was like "oh i'm sorry i have to do this then" I wanted to tell her I was more sorry for her because it didn't bother me lol. Anyway everything felt like it was back in place and she said my incision from my C-section was all healed and looked great. Thank goodness for that! And we talked about birth control and she said she couldn't put me on an oral contraceptive because of my blood pressure and I didn't want an IUD or shot or anything, so she said to use condoms for now and we would revisit the issue in August when I come back for my pap smear. So that was about the extent of that and I've been cleared for sex and exercise so bring it on! lol My goal is to lose another 40 lbs by next year at this time to be healthier to start on baby #2! I also want to be in good shape because I'm now considering a VBAC for #2, so we'll see!
During my whole visit Greyson had been sleeping until the very end he started screaming his head off. I hurried and got dressed and picked him up and he continued to scream all the way out the door. We got to the car and I could tell he had pooped and so I decided I had to change him in the car. He pretty much filled his diaper and was wiggling so much and ended up getting poop all over the changing pad and on my car seat and then I ran out of baby wipes. Meanwhile he is still screaming! I got him wiped up the best I could and put his diaper and clothes back on. Then I made a bottle and fed him in the car and he fell asleep so I put him back in his carseat and got ready to leave and he spit up all over himself and started screaming again. I wiped him off and drove home and decided I would worry about getting my prescription filled later. Geez what an adventure!
Despite that, he is doing really well at 6 weeks old. He got weighed and measured yesterday and he is 22 1/4 inches and 10 lbs 8 ounces. She adjusted the chart back because he was born 2 weeks early and according to that he was in the 95th percentile for both height and weight. I'm going to have a big boy! She asked how tall his dad was and I said 6'3" and she informed me that he was probably going to be really tall. I had already figured that considering he is outgrowing his clothes lengthwise before he ever gets close to filling them out! He is eating 4-5 ounces every 3 1/2 hours or so. He has even been going longer between feedings at night sometimes 5 or 6 hours! Sometimes I wake up before he does and go and check on him because I'm worried he hasnt woke up yet. He started smiling last week and its the greatest thing ever. He is such a joy to us! we are so in love!
All of you ladies take care!
