03-11-2009 - Greyson is 8 months old now..wow!

Well I guess its been a couple months since I wrote one of these! Greyson turns 8 months old tomorrow! He is doing great and we are loving this age! We are barely still in 6-9 month clothes and in size 3 diapers. I have weighed or measured him lately but he has got to be over 20 lbs by now. I need to get on that! Just a couple weeks ago he finally decided that he doesn't really mind being on his tummy, so we are getting closer to crawling. I will sit him down and instantly he has his hands down on the floor trying to crawl towards something, but can't get the concept of keeping his knees under him yet. He instead basically throws himself at stuff and does a lot more rolling now that he is comfortable on his tummy. We even found him in the morning and at nap time a few times laying on his tummy. I am so relieved because he has been so anti-tummy since birth! He loves standing still and his jumperoo is his favorite thing in the world! He is always trying to pull up on us and getting pretty good at it when he has a firm grip. We are so proud of him :0)

He is doing great with eating! We introduced him to chunky foods shortly before he turned 7 months and now he is a pro at the pincer grasp. He loves Cheerios, puffs, bagel pieces, toast, cheese, noodles, peach and pear chunks,bananas, peas...basically anything i cut up and put in front of him! It makes it so much easier now to just cut up what we are eating and he feeds himself while we eat! We have yet to find anything he doesn't like, so we are lucky in that aspect! He eats 3 meals a day and then has about 20-24 oz of formula. I have him on two formula feedings from his sippy cup and two with a bottle still (morning and before bed). The last two are going to be hard to break him from the bottle, but he is still young so I'm taking it slow. Hoping to be off the bottle for good by a year! He also loves his water and juice from his sippy too.

He has been doing a lot of babbling and his favorite thing to say is dadadadada of course. No sign of mama yet, but he just started saying nanana so maybe its closer? lol Has has 4 teeth now (two top, two bottom) and I'm sure more to come soon! He is in love with our two cats and his eyes light up and he gets a huge smile on his face when they walk into the room. Its the cutest thing ever! I only wish the cats felt the same way about him! He of course doesn't understand petting them so he yanks on their fur and trys to chew on them lol.

We have joined a mommy/kid playgroup, so I'm looking forward to him interacting with other kids. I was babysitting a 3 year old for a couple months but she never wanted anything to do with him, so I think this will be good for the both of us. They already have a playdate lined up for kids 2 and under and there are two little 8 month old girls that will be there. I can't wait!
