08-12-2009 - momma to twins anxious to deliver..

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

So, my husband and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our boy/girl twins. I am currently nearing 34 weeks pregnant, and have had nothing but the best of luck with these babies so far. They are each almost 5 pounds now.. which was our goal for them when we got pregnant to be delivered at. We are reassured that if they are born tomorrow, they would most likely be strong and viable : ) I have been having lots of BH contractions, some that even had me in the hospital to check for preterm labor. I figured that 14 in a two hour span was probably a good enough reason to get checked. Looks like I shouldnt have bothered though, cause it turned out to be a false alarm. They told me not to come in again unless my water breaks, i'm bleeding, have noticed one or both babies have stopped moving, or am doubling over in pain. Now i'm suffering with these contractions and some painful ones as well. I periodically am having my cervix checked for progress now, but nothing is happening. Alot of pressure down low, and my belly has definitely dropped in the last week or so too. I keep thinking that at any point my body is going to let go - - but to date.. no such luck! I know many of you would tell me.. keep them in there for as long as possible.. and you're right. I am being selfish for wanting them out, but it has been quite the struggle. Twice the hormones equalled twice the sickness, weight gain, pain, and exhaustion. Coupled with our excitement to meet them, any day now would be welcome!! Although, my husband is pleading that I at least hold out until the end of the week, as he has a paper due on Friday LOL! Final exams until Dec. 17th.. but he said he'd happily study in the hospital. If these babies dont come on their own (god forbid) I will be induced at 38 weeks.. which is around the first week of January. I sure hope I dont have to wait that long.. and I dont really know how that would be possible. Although, as each new day passes I'm amazed at my body and its ability to carry two babies and nearly 10 pounds of them at that!
