11-12-2009 - pelvic exams... passing time.. counting the daysMy mood while writing this blog:
passing time.. counting the days

So, i'm curious.. im in my 34th week, and (with twins) am starting to visit the doctors office weekly now. I had to ask at my last visit for the doctor to do a pelvic exam. I really want her checking my cervix for dialation or signs of labor weekly. I have been feeling lots of pain and pressure, but it seems like nothing is happening (as of Monday this week). Is there any point to asking the doctor to check weekly? Or is this something that they will start doing anyhow? Or do I just have to wait until my water breaks.. i'm bleeding.. or doubled over in pain, for them to check up on me? I feel kinda stupid to keep asking them to check when nothing is happening.. but I wouldnt know otherwise. Who would have ever thought they'd be excited for a pelvic hey?!

Cheers

D

I'm not sure if it's different for twins, but they didn't voluntarily check me till I hit 40 weeks (I'm pregnant with a single). They said they try not to check too much cause it might introduce infection. They said they'd check me next week if I haven't spontaneously gone into labor by then. I hate this waiting game too, so I feel your pain :(

its okay i asked that same question yesterday and i found out that generally around 36 weeks they start but maybe they will do it earlier for you since you are having twins
