13-12-2009 - sex to induce labor

My mood while writing this blog: anxiously waiting

Well, we have another doctors appointment tomorrow. We are approaching 35 weeks with our twins, and they are doing wonderfully! They are at least 5 pounds each now, and all systems are functioning. The problem is, my health is starting to be impeded on. I guess we'll know more after the doctor runs down the list of things that i'm experiencing, and decides on the severity of my issues. Of course we know better than to jump start things too soon, just out of our own selfishness. Because its not about discomfort anymore.. we are hoping that the doctor will be willing to induce sooner than 38 weeks, which was initially planned. The hubby and I have not been able to have sex since I was about 6 months pregnant.. I just got too big : ( We were considering trying anything we could later this week, maybe early next, to try and induce labor naturally. For those that arent aware, semen contains the necessary hormones (which you are given synthetically in the hospital for inductions) to soften the cervix and initiate labor contractions. I have heard its worked for some, and for others nothin'. Its worth a try if you ask me : ) We certainly do miss the closeness. Ah well.. even if the doctor doesnt move the induction plan up, and the sex is unsuccessful.. I imagine i'll pop soon anyhow. I'm huge.. carrying about 10 lbs of baby in there, feeling lots of pressure and pain, and I dont know how long this body will hang on for. Its done a great job so far, and i'm very grateful for the health and development of these darlings. I know that not all have it this lucky.
