20-11-2009 - HELP! High Blood Pressure

So I had a scare today….

I noticed today that my face and neck were red. I went to one of the nurses in the building and asked her to take my blood pressure. She took it twice and then asked another nurse to come take it again. It was very high. She told me to relax and to just call my doctor. He told me that he wants me to start taking BP medicine. He did not seem to think that there was anything wrong with the baby. Since I have my NT u/s on Monday, he just wants me to let them know what is going on and to ask them to take my PB again. Now my face and neck are not red anymore and I feel o.k.

I was already felling not pregnant today. I had commented that I was feeling good and that if I did not know I would not know I was pregnant. Now with this high BP I’m worried. I just really hope that everything is o.k. This sucks!!!!!! I’m going to be even more of a nervous wreck on Monday.

Anybody else out there have this happen?

Awe, hang in there! I had some wicked high BP on Friday but I was definitely stressed out, Try to relax and think happy little baby thoughts!!!

Me me me!! This happened to me the last go around. But I was actually 9 weeks pregnant and got very ill one night. I was dizzy and my vision was blurring which in turn was making me vomit. I went to the ER and was there for 4 hours as they watched my blood pressure. The entire time it was 170s/115s. They ended up sending me home and I had to go to my OB and it was just as high two days later when I saw him. He told me that I apparently had PIH and put me on blood pressure meds. I was on labetalol. Now....even on this med my blood pressure was 140s/low 90s the entire length of my pregnancy. He told me that as long as it didnt get higher than that he was okay with it. In the long run I did end up getting a couple more ultrasounds than normal because of the high bp they wanted to make sure that the baby was getting adequate blood flow and growing properly. Trust me he did!!! He was born at 38.1 weeks and weighed 8.9 pounds. My bp was normal after he was born......so weird. I wish you the best of luck!

I didn't start having any blood pressure problems until the last few weeks of my first pregnancy. My bp was 96/160 at my last nonstress test and I was induced because it wasn't going down. I was 39 weeks. So far I haven't had any problems yet, I hope I don't, I'll be 18 weeks sunday. It's good that they can treat you with medication, hope everything goes well. Just try to take it easy :)
