| 06-8-2009 - Sick of False Labour | My mood while writing this blog:A bit growly |
Yesterday morning was the same story, except with shorter contractions, with greater spacing, so at least I was wise. I still couldn't sleep, however. I saw my new doctor that afternoon, and she decided not to do an internal - it's the philosophy in their office that the more exams and interventions that are done, the higher your risk for infection & other interventions, so they keep it to a minimum - I'm pretty grateful for that, actually. She said that real labour will start out exactly the same & just keep progressing. "We can only label those sort or contractions as practice ones after they stop. Before that, there's no difference. Just keep thinking 'longer & stronger.' "
Deja vu this morning only with an additional hour of 4-6 minutes apart & lasting 40s. I started getting excited, then... away they went. Grrrrr...
So, I'm getting basically no sleep at night, just napping when I can during the day to prevent becoming an absolute zombie. Last week I was the energy-filled nesting queen. This week I feel like a waddling sloth. I talked to my mom & she said, "That's OK, honey, that baby just needs to let you have your hair appointment of Thursday, & my hair appointment on Friday, and then she's free to come anytime."
I'd really prefer NOT to be able to get my hair cut today. I made all these appointments last week in the hope that I could be sheepishly happy as I cancelled all of them from the hospital.
Oh well, on the positive side, I woke up from my nap this afternoon & promptly discovered a glob of 'bloody show' - sorry if TMI. Hopefully that's a sign that the next time contractions strike, they'll stay and get the job done.
