| 20-1-2010 - Big Baby..... |
My mood while writing this blog: concerned |
Ok as most of you know I went to the doctor today because my lil boy has not been moving over the last couple of days. Well they did perform the NST and baby moved 2 times.... And getting him to do that was work!! First they tried banging this very loud noise in front of my belly but he was not fazed at all! LOL Then we started moving and poking my belly... Again he was not fazed! And last they had me drink soda which never works! But he did move twice which to me is not a whole lot. But doctor looked at the results and said that he thought everything was ok. I expressed my concern because on my last NST the doctor said babys heartrate was not going up as much as it should. He said not to worry that everything is fine. (But of course I am still worried!!!)
Then... He measures my belly and... I am measuring at 39 WEEKS!!!! I am currently 34 weeks and 4 days! This now has me more freaked out because just a week and a half ago he was measuring right on.... I must admit I am really worried... Not whether or not I am having a big baby but just want to know he is healthy and that this isnt because something is wrong. He told me he is not concerned about the health of the baby but he is concerned with the size. He says that at this rate I am going to have a 10-11 pound baby and that if this is the case there is reason to believe I wont be able to deliver this baby vaginally. I know I couldnt. My son was 9 pounds 2 oz and they had to use the vaccuum to get him out, so I dont think I would be able to natrually deliver a 10-11 pound baby. He did bring up the possibility of c-section. I really dont want to have a c-section.
Well then he mentioned to me that it doesnt matter how much mom and dad weighed when they were born, but what mommy is feeding baby when she is pregnant. He said I need to cut out my carbs. Now I am totally confused because my last doctors appt the midwife told me I need to eat more... :( UGH! I feel like its my fault and some how its awful of me to have apparently over fed my little one without knowing it. But then I have only gained 13 pounds so how could I possibly be over eatting???
As you can tell I am totally confused and MOSTLY worried about my baby boy. I have an ultrasound next Thursday to check weight and size of baby. Its going to be a LONG weeks wait! I just want to have the ultrasound and know for sure my lil one is ok......
PLEASE HELP ME LADIES!!!!! Thank you and love you all..... Sorry about the long blog!

Thursday, 21 Jan Having only gaind 13 lbs. I don't think you've over feed the baby, so please don't blame yourself. He's probably just a big baby, sounds like you tend to have bigger babies. Maybe if at next weeks appt. if they say he's still measuring big you could always try and ask to be induced. NinaBo-Bina -
Thursday, 21 Jan Well, you must wait for your measurement u/s before getting concerned. I juts got the measurement u/s and they say baby is 5 lbs 6 oz in the 67 percentile of his growth. I asked if there was something wrong why he's so big already and they said no, that's just the way he's developing. I am just grateful that he's not small for this time in our pregnancy. I also don't want a c-section. They plan to induce me on Feb 26th and they anticipate he will be 8 1/2 lbs. My biggest baby was 7 lbs 9 oz. I am a bit afraid but whatever it takes to bring this lil man into our world safely, I will do. Relax hun, we are having natural anxieties towards the end. It's normal to feel this way. shirls -
Thursday, 21 Jan Maybe this doctor doesn't realize that you've only gained 13 lbs? Some doctors think that if the baby is big, that it must be because the mom ate alot. mum2onex -

Wednesday, 20 Jan Hi ya, I am in the same boat as you, as my bmi is 35 i had to have a growth scan to make sure baby is growing ok, and at 32 weeks she was measuring 37 weeks! and that I am having a large baby.My Ob will not allow me to deliver before my due date.I am now 34 weeks and am measuring 40 weeks. You cant always tell 100% by scans or tape measure the size they will be. I spent a week stressing how i'm gonna get a big baby out. Now I'm thinking no matter what she has to come out and when the time finally comes i'm sure ill know what to do xxxxxxxxGood luck Heather12 -
Wednesday, 20 Jan My first baby was 9lbs 3oz and it was a horrible birth. Pushed for hours, she had to be vaccumed out, stage 3 episotomy. It was bad. After that I was so worried about having a big baby. My dr told me that I would be able to have a bigger baby this time around. My 3rd baby was 10lbs and I had no trouble at all pushing her out. So I wouldn't opt for the c-section until you see what happens trying to have him vaginally. You never know. I was shocked when they told me how much my baby weighed. refinnejlee -
Wednesday, 20 Jan *hugs*...I personally don't trust the tape measure...but, I am also not going to sit here and tell you not to be worried. You have to trust your gut, and don't let anyone tell you that all is well if you know that something is just not right. Fight for yourself and your baby until you get all of the answers. Even if it means you go to the hospital complaining of contractions, just to get an immediate u/s...idk...don't give up and be strong! lil.pigz -
Wednesday, 20 Jan The DR said my last baby was measuring "big" with that darn tape measure. She was born full term at 6lb12oz. Not "big" by any means, lol. I don't have much faith in that tape measure. This baby, the tape measure said I was measuring 40 weeks and he did do an u/s that confirmed the baby is 6lb7oz. Which is "big." But he also said I have GD this time around. Your u/s will show a much more accurate size/weight of baby. I am on my 5th c-section, so they arent all that bad...otherwise my 1st baby would have been an only child, lol! laurakate82 -
Wednesday, 20 Jan i have to have an ultrasound to measure my little boy too!! im just measuring a week and 2 days big tho...im sorry you're so worried... :-( it might just be the year of big boys! youngmom01 -
Wednesday, 20 Jan I'm sure your baby will be fine and you will to! Your baby could have just been closer to your back last time they messured and this time was more in the front .... I messured at 19 weeks when I was 21 weeks and then when I was 33 weeks I messured at 37 then this week I messured at 34 so I wouldnt worry about it. Since the atomic fluid is at its peak this week and next it is very normal that you don't feel much movment!! Some times for a few days I won't feel anything then it feels like shes trying to come outta my skinn! Just hang in there I'm sure everything will be fine. xo RitaPoeta -
Wednesday, 20 Jan I can definitely understand how you are worried. I would be too. It sounds like you are getting conflicting messages. To be honest with you, I'm not a professional but I really don't think that what you eat has to do with the size of the baby. There is nothing you are doing that is your "fault" in baby being big!!! Try to relax and know that at least you are being monitored.Baby will come out when he's ready!
