well, I figured that maybe I should write about pregnancy once in a while to remember for the future! Tomorrow I turn 22 weeks prego. This pregnancy was VERY unexpected. I was taking the mini pill every day and life was sooo stressful. We had talked about starting to try for another baby summer of 08, but it seems God had planned it a little sooner. We are really excitied... I just hope that I can handle it all.

Last week we went on our last only family vacation before baby is born. It was soooo wonderful, and I felt so physically great the whole time. We had our ultrasound a few weeks ago and we decided not to find out the sex of the baby. I'm excited to have the surprise... I think it will help me get through the pain of labor. I must admit though that I tried to "accidently" see. The baby's heartbeat was 143bpm... and from what I've heard that is right in the middle of indicating boy or girl. Derick really wants a boy... and I'm not sure what I want. I never had a sister, so I think it would be great for Lylah to have a sister... but then again, we don't have a boy, so it would be wonderful to have a boy! grrr.. just don't know. I started feeling baby move around 16 weeks... faint back then, but has gotten stronger and now we can feel kicking on the outside of tummy. A few minutes ago I ate some fresh pineapple, and baby seems to LOVE it. Moving so much. Feels wonderful to know life is inside... but at the same time it's a very odd feeling. Sometimes I'm not sure if I really like it. I don't want to get any bigger. I'm scared. With Lylah I gained 60 lbs... and I don't want that to happen again. I go into the doc again on Thursday and we'll see were the weight stands. I can't wait to stop working. Hopefully after this next appointment we'll see how soon I can get out of working. Well... will try to keep updating site!

okay, I'm pretty annoyed. I just typed in a whole update and it all got deleted. grrr. So, yesterday I went in for my 22week checkup. I arrived 15 mins early and was taken back right away. I thought it was too good to be true. As I sat in the room by myself it kept getting hotter and hotter. After about 30 mins I opened the door and received a gush of fresh air. As nurses passed by they were shocked that I still had not been seen. I heard them whispering that I had been forgotten about. gee! They told the doc that I was next... and I saw the doc walk by my room and go to someone else before me. Nurse came and apologized once again. Everything was screwed up. Finally after waiting 45 mins in a room by myself I got to see doc. She was very nice once I got seen and I didn't feel rushed at all. She told me I'm measuring just a tiny bit small for 22 weeks. Heartbeat is good and was around 145bpm. I had quite a few questions and she took her time answering them. I asked about work since I'm a server and it's already getting harder... she told me they can sign me out of work whenever I want. THANK GOD! With Lylah, my old doc wouldn't sign me out until 36 weeks... it was awful. Next appt is in another 4 weeks, so will update then!

6-19-08

went to doc for an emergency visit today... Lots of pain while working last night. Heartbeat was doing great though (don't know bpm) but upon my internal exam she found that my cervix was already shortening. I was then hooked up to the moniters for about 20mins to see if I was contracting, but I wasn't really. I was then sent down the hall to get an ultrasound of my cervix... the tech said she didn't see it being too much shorter than it should be, so it's ok. Doc told me I was going to stop working now... so I filled out my disability paperwork after the girl at the front desk went back to make sure I was supposed to go on leave, but after I left the office I've been thinking about it and I'm pretty sure that doc meant for me to stop working for like a week or two... not for good. I don't know now. I keep worrying about it, but the front desk girl went and checked before she gave me paperwork, so i guess I'm in the clear. I'd rather not be working right now, so I'm not going to be the one to speak up! We'll see what happens. So, after being at the doc's office for about 2 hours 45mins, I am now on my maternity leave. yay!

7-6-08

here's a story for ya... tonight I went to my best friend's baby shower... and while my daughter ate cake I sat with her at the kitchen table. It always takes her a long time to eat so once she was finished I stood up and my skirt was soaked in the back. I looked at my skirt and the chair cushion and the fluid was clear. I immediately began to freak out thinking my water broke. I called my best friend in to ask her what she thought cause with her first child, her water broke before she went into labor. She asked if my undies were wet so I went and checked and indeed they were, (but the party had been outside and it was hot and I had been sweating A LOT) so I didn't know what to think. I brought in a few more people and asked if any of them knew if the chair was wet before I sat down... although I was pretty sure it wasn't. I began to cry not knowing what to do and not wanting to go to the hospital and have them tell me I sat in water. Plus my hubby was at work an hour away. Then the hostess of the party came in and said that chair cushion had been washed earlier that day and although it looked dry it was prolly still wet underneath. We pushed on it in different spots, but couldn't get it to get a wet mark, so I'm still kinda freaked out. Of all the people to sit on the 'wet' chair... it would be a pregnant chick. I came home immediately and put on a fresh pair of undies... I'll be on the look out for any wet discharge and if there is any tonight we'll be on the way to the hospital... although it's been an hour and a half and nothing else has happened. Biggest scare I've had!! I cry every time I think about it. My heart was racing and I realized... I'M NOT READY YET, AND NEITHER ARE YOU BABY!!

7-8-08

Had another check up today... went extremely quick, which I liked because it was so freakin hot outside I just wanted to get home. Unfortunately as of today at 27 weeks I have gained 20 pounds already. I just don't want to gain 60 like I did with Lylah. Gestational Diabetes test came back okay, and baby is measuring okay and heartbeat was 148bpm. I still think it's a girl. Last night though I had a weird dream that I went into labor right now at 27 weeks and delivered a baby boy who weighed 8 pounds even!! I even imagined his name and everything... so maybe a boy? We'll just have to wait and find out! Good news is that doc didn't say anything about me going back to work, so I'm definately on maternity leave. yay! Today we got our infant car seat in the mail... it's cute... not perfect, but it will do. Now I'm ready to have the baby! I have my next appt. in 3 weeks.

7-30-08

30 week checkup today... as always I forgot to write down my questions for the doc, and then ended up forgetting everything. It's okay, I go back again in 2 weeks. Before my appt. I went to the hospital to Pre-register... so now I'm ready for labor! LOL ... At my appt, it was sooo quick which I love. My urine was okay (no proteins yet!) and my blood pressure was great, and Baby's heartrate was staying in the 140's (as usual). She checked my cervix because I've had a lot of BH's even though I wasn't worried and they aren't painful... she said I am 40% effaced and dialated a fingertip. I don't know what that traslates to in terms of cm, but I'm guessing under 1. It's nice to know that we're heading in the right direction though, even though it will take weeks still. Well, that's all for now.

8-12-08

32 week checkup today.... I've gained 29 lbs so far...took awhile to see doc, but then I got all my questions answered and didn't feel rushed, which was nice. Evidently at my 30 week appt. my belly was measuring 33cm and at this appt. I was only measuring 31.5cm.... not sure what happened there! Heartrate was in the 140's (as usual!) I got to feel baby's head in my hands and it was kinda creepy. Baby is currently Frank Breech... head up, butt down. I was told there is still plenty of time to turn especially since this is my second baby. Blood pressure was fine, but they found trace amounts of protein in my urine. I'm getting scared now that I'll be getting pre-eclamsia again. She wasn't worried yet due to the fact my blood pressure was fine... but we'll just have to see with time. Next appt. is in 2 weeks.

8-28-08

34 Week checkup today... was very worried I would go in and be diagnosed with preeclampsia and have a baby by the end of the day! Thankfully everything was normal. Still have trace amounts of protein in my urine but BP was 110/70 which is Great! Heartbeat was in the 150's so I'm really thinking girl now. :) Belly measured right at 34cm so we're right on. Had my group b strep test today so they checked me also... baby's head is down and low (not engaged) and I am dialated 2cm and 50% effaced. C'mon baby... come in 2 weeks! haha LOL we'll see. Next appt in 1 week.

9-4-08

35 Week check-up today. Went really well. My Blood pressure was 112/70, I had NO trace amounts of protein this time... don't know what belly measured, but baby's heartrate was 138bpm. I am still 2cm dilated and 50%effaced. Have been seeing a lot of spots lately and so they decided to do blood work to ease my mind.. will find out if anything shows up next week. Group B Strep came back negative. Next appt in 1 week. (gained 39 pounds total)

9-11-08

36 Week check up today... Took forever to be seen... again. Always does when seeing Marine (NP) she's really good, and takes time to talk about anything you need to, but at the same time, that means you have to wait for her! Urine was okay, labs from last week came back normal, BP was 110/74, baby's heartrate was 155bpm, measuring exactly at 36cm.... overall a good visit. Still head down, looking sideways. Gained 42 pounds total. EEK! Oh, and still at 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Next appt in 1 week.

9-18-08

37 Week checkup today. I was terrified that we were going to have a baby due to pre-eclampsia... I've had sudden swelling of the hands, seeing spots badly, feel my heart throbing HARD... but everything still is checking out okay! Thank God. Baby still head down, trace protein, BP was 120/70, baby's heartrate was in the 150s, and I am now 2.5cm and 60% effaced! Getting closer! Oh, and I lost 1 pound so I'm down to 41 pounds. Next appt. in 1 week.

9-25-08

38 Week check up today... AWFUL! When I set up this appointment I asked her what time was the fastest to get in and out...she said I was the first appt right after lunch. I got there 10 mins early, and it took them 40 mins to call me back. I was pissed, but ok whatever. Was taken to my room and told to undress.... I sat there for ANOTHER 25 mins!!! No sign of doc still. Ready to get dressed and just leave the office, I held my little paper towel around me and walked out into the hall. I didn't care if anyone saw anything... I found some nurses and asked if I was going to be seen. I was SOOO UPSET! They said yea, so I went back to the room and waited another 5 mins. Doc finally came in and tried to joke it off like, "oh I just wanted to wait until you had the baby!" So not funny. I hope to go into labor this week, cause I don't want to go back for another appointment!

Anyways, blood pressure was up a little bit 128/80.... still fine though. Belly is measuring 39 weeks, baby's heart beat was 136-140BPM, no cervical change from last week though... 2.5cm and 60%effaced. I asked him to do a membrane sweep, so he did. Also, after my appointment I went to do foot reflexology, so we'll see if anything happens! Urine was fine, so next appointment is in a week. ick. Oh, and weight gain is up to 44 pounds.

10-01-08

39 week checkup today. Really straight forward. Blood pressure was 128/70, belly measuring just over 39 weeks, baby's heart rate was 136BPM, and no change in dilation/effacement... still 2.5cm and 60% effaced. Bummer, oh well. I've gained 46 pounds so far. eek! I've been EXTREMELY thirsty, like I can't get enough water so I asked doc about it... he said that sounds like GD, but there's no sugar in my urine and no other signs of it so just to not worry about it. OK. I thought he was going to talk about setting an induction date but he didn't so I was happy about that! We went tonight as a family to the fair where I walked and walked and walked in hopes of getting something started, so we'll just have to wait and see. It was fun to see the enjoyment in my daughter. Next appointment is in one week... although I hope I don't make it till then!

10-07-08

Yes, today is the due date!! The most pregnant I've ever been! Oh my. I went to my doctor's appointment today... Blood pressure was 118/80 which is awesome, still gained 46 pounds total, got checked and I was 4cm and 60% effaced!! Finally some change! Also asked her to do a good sweep so she did and I've been crampy since. Hoping that things are moving along! We did a NST and baby was doing great with a baseline heartrate in the high 120's-mid 130's. She asked me when I wanted to talk induction and I said 1 week which she was fine with, and it made me happy she asked me what I WANTED instead of telling me what would happen. =) She said that IF I make it to this weekend and would like to do an induction just a bit sooner- that she would be on call all weekend and I could just go in and say I'm in labor and they'd keep me. Hopefully I go naturally sooner though. We'll just have to wait and see!!
