My mood while writing this blog: Wondering... |
OK Ladies,
Here I am. 25 weeks. I was looking (admiring) my baby bump this morning and... OH MY GOSH.... OH MY GOSH... STRETCHMARKS... WTF (I usually say WTH but, this deserves a WTF).
I mean my sister and my mom had them, I don't know why I thought I would magically not have them. I have them kinda around the belly button, and below the belly button (perhaps that's why I just now noticed them). I've gained just 10 pounds so, it's like... uh, not fair! And I can only suspect these stretchmarks will only get worse.
So, I got some "Stretchmark" cream from Wal-mart. I've heard Vitimin E works too. Then, I read... it doesn't even matter!!! You'll either get em' or not. It depends on elasticity, genes, etc. Hmmmmmmm
So what do you think? Should I keep lathering' all that stuff on my tums OR what? Anyone have any other remedies/tips/tricks?
Let me know what you think, you opinion is valuable :)

Wednesday, 22 Jul Like other girls have said, they are hereditary. If it is in the cards for you, you will get them. My Mom said she got them oh so badly. I've been rubbing palmers coco butter on my tummy and lower back since day one (5wks preggo)... knock on wood... I haven't gotten any. There is nothing you can do to get rid of them once you get them, so don't buy lotion thinking they'll disappear. It wouldn't hurt to put some on after you get out of the shower- you're skin is more apt to absorb the lotion after you take one. It's no guarantee it will prevent new ones but it should help make you feel better too, less itchy, painful skin pulling. mysurprisebaby -
Wednesday, 22 Jul I know how you feel as I freaked out one morning from what looked like a stretchmark, but was just a mark from bed sheets. But I'm totally with you that this deserves WTF instead of just WTH. I'm literally scared to get one...... ari08 -
Tuesday, 21 Jul I Have no strench marks yet, but my belly is still running on the small side. My mom had none but my brandma did, so I dunno! But I am coco buttering my belly everyday! Just incase so they at least don't look so bad if I get them AubreyP -
Tuesday, 21 Jul I didn't get any with my 1st pregnancy and I didn't use any special lotion. I did get them (a ton) second pregnancy and didn't use any special lotion. I don't think they lotion makes a difference. kplum -
Tuesday, 21 Jul I was just reading about this today because I noticed stretch marks starting to appear. They are genetic :( and you will get them no matter what . But, if you use cream 2 times a day it can minimize them! I read that you can actually make your own cream by using cocoa butter, olive oil and vitamin E..
I also read to continue the cream even after you give birth becasue rapid weight loss can cause them too if you are prone! Who would have thought! allynne7 -
Tuesday, 21 Jul I'd keep up with the cream...even if it doesn't help with the stretch marks it will keep your skin moisturized so that you don't get too itchy as the weeks progress. Emma 141109 -
Tuesday, 21 Jul Ahhh stretch marks have always scared me since falling pregnant! I have stretchmarks already on my sides from my teenage years but have noticed they are creeping out towards my belly and are a tad darker at the ends. I’ve been rubbing Palmers Coco butter on my tummy since I was 12 weeks, hoping this will at least reduce them! Definitely keep moisturising. There are some really good (but expensive) creams out there for after you give birth to reduce them. BabySaunders -
Tuesday, 21 Jul Although stretch marks ARE genetic, it's never a bad idea to keep your skin moisturized so I would continue to lather on all that junk! ;) Don't bother spending buko bucks on "Stretchmark creme" though. Just go buy some thick lotion from Neutrogena or something. Good luck! I'll be getting them too. My mom has them BBBAAAADDDD so I know what I'm for. I'm only 10 weeks, havent gained a pound but I'm getting stretch marks on my inner thighs so I second the WTF?!? :)
