12-11-2008 - To midwife or OB that is the question. confusedMy mood while writing this blog:
confused

Hey girls- I had my first midwife app today. Im so nervous. I used an obgyn with my other 2 and delievered in the same hospital so its scary to switch it up with a new hospital and a midwife and not a doc. The hospital I have chosen is 30 min away, but the have jacuzzi tubs in every room and they go way out for babies. You get a huge fancy dinner sparkling wine and all steak etc...then you get a free half an hour massage!!!! The are really down to earth and not clinical at all. Its in a small town. Im just afraid of change! The hospital is very midwife friendly and c- section is the LAST option. Of course my app was boring. The usual pap and blood draw. Im looking foward to my 12 week to hear the heartbeat!! C-ya! Did I mention that I cannot have an epidural? The medicne makes me really sick and gives me something called "horners syndrome". Its when you temporarily become paralyzed. With my last they had to shut the epi off around 7 cm. I begged for more medicne and they gave me a bullos dose but that was it. It lasted untill delievry when I felt EVERYTHING!! Can you say ow?

hey there - just want to encourage you to do some more research on midwives as that may help put your mind at ease. i would love to use my midwife in a hospital but it is illegal here! we're going to try for a home birth b/c we feel so strongly about the care a midwife can give. if i can remember some good resources i'll send them your way...i'm drawing a pregnancy brain blank at the moment. good luck!!

Wow sounds like a really nice hospital it it also sounds like they really take care of you and the baby so it sounds pretty good to me compared to what we get here the Midwives do take care of you here but you dont get all the trimmings.
