| 12-8-2009 - Potty Training - No liquids after 6pm | My mood while writing this blog:Sad! |
I feel so sad this morning, dont know if I'll ever be a good mother, when I'm constantly consumed with guilt when I try and discipline my children.
My big little man Ty is 3 years old and he is completely potty trained during the day, doesn't even sleep with a nappy/diaper during his afternoon nap, but in the evenings, he still needs to wear one, cos I tried letting him sleep without one and he wet the bed a few times. Winter was coming, so I thought that I would try and train him to sleep through during summer.
Neil has now made this rule that the kids cant have liquids after 6pm. But I feel so bad for not giving him water when he wants it. And especially after dinner, we usually only eat after 6pm, cos we only get home at 5h30, he cant get anything to drink, and here we are, gulping down some juice or colddrink and my child just has to stare at us.
It breaks my heart completely, I just cant handle it and sometimes feel like giving him something to drink on the sly, but I know that that is wrong, so what do I do. I cant see my child suffer, even though I know that this is not suffering, but yesterday he was pleading with me and saying "but mummy, I'm a good boy" and I just felt like crying, which I did eventually, but didnt want to go against what his father said. I was drinking a cup of hot chocolate and he kept asking me, "let me feel if its cold now, can I have some", eventually I stopped drinking because I felt so guilty drinking infront of him. Then he asked me if he could take my cup to the kitchen, and that made me feel even worse. I was kind of hoping that he would drink it when he got to the kitchen, but he didnt.
Does it make any sense that he cant have any liquids, especially since he's still wearing a nappy. And what if he hasn't had anything to drink since the afternoon! I'm so confused and so emotional.
This is the hardest job in the world, i'm just so emotional! I've tried googling night time potty training and cant seem to find anything that says you shouldnt give them liquids.
