| 15-5-2009 - NT ultrasound | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Well, aside from having a VERY unfriendly US tech, the measurements were very great. The NT measurement was 1.6 mm, which is an excellent measurement! The genetic counselor told us she would call today or Monday already with our new numbers related to Trisomy 21 and 18. I'm confident that our numbers will change to a much smaller risk after the ultrasound.
Unfortunately, I knew as soon as the unfriendly, grumpy tech came to get us that we would not be getting a guess at the gender. She wouldn't even give us her best guess! She did quick try at my request but said she didn't see anything either way and that she wouldn't say boy but also wouldn't say girl. I tried but didn't see anything, although I am now convinced we are having a girl because we were 12w4d with Brody when we were told definitely boy and you could see the parts. Now we have to wait until 18-20 weeks for our next ultrasound. Baby jumped ahead a few days and was measuring a little over 13 weeks. She said that was good and baby is healthy and growing fast. I cant tell, I've had that voracious appetite back in the last week or so and my belly has popped! Maternity clothes, here I come! 2nd trimester, here at last!
Still amazed after all my kids when I see that baby in there. It WOWS me every single time. I'm always amazed and in disbelief! I love how Ben holds my hand and kisses it throughout our ultrasounds, always tenderly talks to me and opens my car door. It's just a special time for us. I'm in love with this baby and can't wait to meet him or her in November!
The nurse just called as I was writing this. Trisomy 18 is negative and Down's Syndrome is now 1/4200 risk. Great news!!
