| 10-12-2009 - 12/13 Week U/S Today | My mood while writing this blog:Nervous |
Scheduled to see Dr. and have an ultrasound today. According to the U/S (which I agree with) I am 13 weeks today. My Dr. so far has been sticking to my LMP date which puts me at 12 weeks 2 days today.
I have a love/hate relationship with the ultrasound. My last one was at 9 weeks and everything looked fine which was such a relief and I LOVED seeing the baby! Now here I am 4 weeks later and need to go back in. No cramping (besides the odd mild twinge and occasional gas pains) and no spotting so everything should be ok, but I am always pretty nervous going in. Just hoping and praying the baby will be OK but also trying to prepare myself mentally in case it is not. My very first pregnancy ended in an early miscarriage so I am always stressed, even though I had a beautiful and perfectly healthy baby girl in May 2008. I think if this scan shows that everything is OK at this point I should be able to relax a bit more. Dear hubby always comes with me to see the baby and help keep me from freaking out!
I think I have been feeling the baby move occassionally but am not quite sure if it really is baby or gas. It would be nice to know as it would make me feel better to know the little one is strong enough already for me to feel.
UPDATE: The u/s showed that everything was just fine with the baby. He/she was sound asleep the whole check-up (which only took about 3 minutes) but had a good steady hb of 165. I wish he/she woke up and moved around a bit - my daughter always put on quite a show when we had an u/s, it was like she hated the intrusion. But this little one looked nice and comfyand sound asleep. We could see the heart beating and the spine was pretty clear - Dr. said all looked good. We also got to hear the hb for the first time - galloping away. Now I have to wait another 4 weeks for the next check-up in January!
