26-2-2009 - I Hate My kitty hopefulMy mood while writing this blog:
hopeful

Well it all started Three weeks ago when I bought the most adorable, flatfaced, big eyed Persian kitten. The lady said"she is just getting over a little tummy bug,but she is just fine now and is healthy".Yea right there has been three weeks of this poor little cat pooing all over her cage that I have to keep her in to stay away form the kids. What does this have to do with pregnancy? After every test in the books, yesterday the vet tells me she has toxoplasmosis. This is not only contagious by touching feces but it puts off spores that can be inhaled. This is very dangerous to baby if I am not immune. So today I have to go get more tests.I feel like a human pin cushion.

Oh hon!! I hope your tests are ok. Toxoplasmosis is more contagious when one deals with cat litter and not that much through air as per my doc. she told me that I can hold a kitten and be arround it but not to clean it's litter. Her actual words were "You don't need to be racist against the poor animal, just dont clean litter". I did the tests too and it was ok, I wish the same to you. Keep us posted hon. I gave up my cat, not for fear of getting toxoplasmosis myself now but because a cat with such a disease should not be around a newborn, even after the cat is cured, it's still carrying antibodies containing spores to which the cat is immune but others are not.
