12-4-2008 - PREMATURE LABOUR

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

Just a quick update as not been online for a while. End of March was a scary time for me and my partner. I went into premature labour! what started off as awful back ache turned into very painful contractions. I thought they may just be braxton hicks but They were so painful I rang my midwife who told me to get to hospital immediately! So when i arrived at hospital my blood pressure and temperature was taken and a urine sample then immediately i was internally examined to see if my cervix was open, which thankfully it asnt although I was having real contractions. I was then taken down to the labour ward! where i was given steroid injection to mature the babies lungs and also an anti D injection as i am rhesus negative. Then they inserted a needle for a drip to be placed into my hand to try and stop the contractions! which after a few hours the contractions grinded to a halt. i had bloods taken and was told to stay in over night and have my second dose of steroids in the morning!!! But thankfully baby has decided t stay put for now although i am being watched over like a hawk by everyone!
