10-3-2009 - 38 and 39 Week Checkup

My mood while writing this blog: Fine

On Friday I went in for my 38 week checkup. The doctor told me that Devon is still head down (which is no surprise considering just how low he is) Also, my previously small measuring stomach is almost caught up to other women in my week. The following Tuesday would be the 39 week checkup and there was to be an internal exam to see if the baby was engaged. I'd lost 2 pounds since the last checkup a week earlier.

Between Friday and Tuesday I was very exited but also apprehensive, I didn't want to hear that I was 0% effaced and 0 cm dilated. I was so eager to have my good news, like so many of the other ladies on this site.

Today (Tuesday) David's mom gave me a ride to the doctor's appointment. She wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat so I told her of course she could join me in the room, so long as she left before the internal exam. She was fine with that, so she got to hear her grandson's heartbeat for the first time. I'm now measuring close enough to what I should be that the doctor says we're not worried about it anymore. I'd gained 2 or 3 pounds from last week which gives me an overall weight gain of 40 lbs for this pregnancy. The baby is engaged and I'm 2 cm dilated! Thank God
