| 18-12-2008 - 1 Hour Glucose Test Results | My mood while writing this blog:Pensive |
Well, ladies... I went in to have my 1 hour test on the 16th. It wasn't until around 3:40 that I was able to have it done so prior to that I had a very modest salad for lunch and was starving going into the test. I drank the fluid down fast because the woman who gave it to me was very pushy to get it done and go home. And the drink was so cold, it gave me a brain freezing going down. But, during the hour wait, I felt no different then I had all day and really felt good about having my blood drawn and getting the results back. Oh well for that thought!
I got a call this morning and the nurse said my results had come back abnormal. So she informed me that I would now have to do the 3 hour test. Which, a friend of mine who had to do this, as well, and who failed both let me know in advance what to expect. Basically what will happen is that I have to go in early in the morning (since you can't eat anything after midnight until after the testing is done) and they will take my blood the first thing. Then they will have me drink the juice and have me wait an hour before they take your blood again. THEN, they will have you go back out into the waiting room and sit an hour before they take the test again. And then they will have you go back out for yet ANOTHER hour before the take your test again. So in total, I will have my blood drawn 4 times!!! AHHHHH... like sitting in that waiting room for 3 hours isn't horrible enough! :(
Anyway, I'm just praying that it goes okay because I hate when my finger has to be pricked and if I have gestational diabetes, then I will have to test my blood sugar 4 times a day with a finger pricking thingy. Not looking forward to any of that. Also, I'm not much for cooking and I will now have to really work on eatting more at home then out with my husband. Which I know will all and all be better for me but I just wish I was normal and didn't have to go through this. Anyway, please keep your fingers crossed for us that we do okay on the 3 hour test! And best of luck to all of you who haven't taken the test yet!
