| 23-6-2009 - Gavin\'s Birth Time Table | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
Time of labor:
5-7pm-getting admitted in hospital, IV’s and blood work done, monitor contractions and fetal heartbeat.
7pm-Doctor came in checked dilation (2-3cms 50% effaced) put in balloon catheter into cervix.
8pm-pitocin started strong but manageable contractions.
11:15ish pm- Doctor came back in removed catheter and checked progress almost 5cm’s, broke water and told me to order an epidural
11:45pm- Intense contractions ouch! Stood at side of bed and rocked through them contemplated epidural.
1:00am- requested epidural; it’ll be another hour for the anesthesiologist to get in.
2:00am-epidural talk and briefing then administered. Oh much better!
2-4am- 6cms, rested no sleep though.
4-4:30am- epidural wore off on one side…pressed epidural button 2 times 20 minutes apart, not much more relief.
6:00-6:30 am-not feeling well, nauseated. Nurse was going to call anesthesiologist for top off/or to replace epidural. I had a feeling it was time and I asked to be checked and was 10cm’s +1. Was told I would push now or wait for baby to come lower. Decided to wait. Room was made ready for baby.
7:15am-My doctor came back in and started pushing.
8:43am-after lots of pushing Gavin is born!
