02-6-2008 - Midwife appointment - 3 June 2008

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

So I had my midwife appointment this morning and asked her about having a water birth. She doesn't do water births apparently and because I like her, I'm going to have to deal with that.

She said because of my weight, I am at risk of bleeding out after the birth and will give me an injection so I don't. I am allowed to labour in a pool though which is good.

We will decided when I go into labour whether I want to go to Auckland hospital or to Parnell Birth care. I mentioned I wasn't keen on pethadine and she isn't either as the side affects she's noticed with babies after they are born isn't good.

Got my test results back and my blood sugar levels is on the high side so will need to watch my carb and sugar intake and eat more protein to feel fuller. I am also low on iron and will need to purchase some iron tablets. My pelvic condition actually has a name now: Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction.

Baby is currently head down.

So overall, not a very positive appointment, but thats life I guess.
