01-7-2009 - Hospital Stay.... Scared! My mood while writing this blog:
Scared!

Well, Friday night I went to bed and woke up at 3am Saturday morning, completely wet. I thought I had peed the bed or something, so I got up and went into the bathroom........it wasn't pee, it was blood, everywhere! I was totally freaked out, I have not had any problems until this point and this is my first pregnancy. I woke up my husband, who helped me call my doctor and then he drove me to the hospital. The bleeding had pretty much stopped by the time I got checked in at the hospital, thank goodness. But once they hooked me up to the monitors, they realized I was having contractions. So I was started on terbutaline to stop the contractions, an IV antibiotic, & steroids to mature the baby's lungs.......I was terrified. We had to fill out all this paper work about the baby's birth, like circumcision, vaccines, pictures, whether or not we had a car seat, a pediatricion, all stuff I have not even thought about yet! Well, thank goodness the medication stopped the contractions. I stayed in the hospital 2 days for observations, saw a specialist, etc. I am on oral meds now to control my uterine irritability and am on total bedrest until I deliver! That was really hard to hear, I am a pharmacist, so I stand up all day at work and the doctors said that was out of the question. So basically I am going to be on bedrest for (hopefully) 10 weeks, and then at 36 weeks they will do an amnio to see if the baby's lungs are mature. If they are, they will do a c-section at 36 weeks. Supposidly the bleeding was from the placenta previa I was diagnosed with. So scary! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, I am terrified that the bleeding or contractions will come back, our little boy is only a little over 2 pounds right now. I just want to make it to at least 36 weeks.

Im on bedrest too, for the last 5 1/2 weeks for cervical incompetence. All I do all day is watch TV, get on the internet and use this site. To tell you the truth time has been going by pretty fast... you'll see!

I haven't been on in a few days so I just saw your blog. I'm soooo happy to hear that everything is okay. That must have been so scary, I will keep all of you in my prayers. 10 weeks is a long time but I'm sure it will pass faster than you think. good luck and take care.

good luck I started bleeding when pregnant with my daughter at 30 weeks and I was put on bed rest until I had her at 35 weeks. I wish you guys luck. I get scared with this pregnancy because i too stand all day at work and I've been having alot of cramping and contractions lately. My doctor gave me a note to get a chair b/c of my history with my pregnancy with my daughter. I don't want to leave the hospital without my baby again it's so hard leaving with out your baby! I hope you are able to hold off until term.

epp! Im glad the bleeding stopped etc. Im on bedrest, but for something totally different(pre-e) but Im not tied down to my bed 24/7. Since you are on total bedrest, you can probably on get up to use the bathroom and shower and that's it. Call your Dr to make sure. Good luck!

Wow that's very scary! I'm so glad they were able to calm your contractions down and get those under control. Bed rest for 10 weeks does not sound like fun but it does sound better then giving birth to your little boy now! I will have the both of you in my prayers and I hope everything from now on continues to go well for you and your little boy!
