I went back to the midwife Thursday before last and she tried to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler machine, but she couldn't detect it. Fortunately the sonogram room was available, so we went to use the sonogram machine to hear the heartbeat. She then detected it, and we heard he heartbeat. She said she couldn't pick it up before because the placenta was over the baby. Phew!! The heartbeat was 164 beats, which she indicated was normal for the size of the baby. Baby was jumping and moving around. Once again, she said everything looked great. I go back on April 23, by then I should be able to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler. The m/s is still kicking me in the rear. Now, I am getting fuller faster and can't eat as much at one sitting as I use to. My stomach has grown so much to the point where I can't wear belts anymore. Anyday now I should be merging into maternity clothes, hah! All is well, still happy as ever.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I finally told my family. I am so relieved to make it this far in the pregnancy! They were all excited and my mom said, "I already knew". The instincts mothers have...

Today I feel 'FAT'! I ate an entire plate of rice and beans with stewed beef and plantains. The entire plate! These past days I have been eating like a cow! The more I eat, the sicker I feel, the less I eat, the sicker I feel-- I just can't win. I have been feeling so uncomfortable moving, bending, just trying to get comfortable. I'm beginning to feel like I'm already 8 months PG. Heavy breathing, tired easily, sqeezed up insides. I don't know. Can't wait to go back to the midwife next week to see what I'm measuring at, cause it sure feels greater than 12 weeks to me. I was able to get my pants on today, but was barely able to get out of them. I think this is my last week in regular clothes. I tried, but my butt, belly and hips aren't appreciating the tight pants. It's all good.

I went to the doctor on Wednesday and it was a fairly quick visit. I didn't have any questions or concerns and the doc was able to let me and my DH hear my sweet pea's heartbeat with the Doppler. Everything is still going great! I go back May 21. Today I had a dizzy spell out of no where though. Welcome to the second trimester...Anybody else with the tummy the size of a volley ball?
