My mood while writing this blog: Worn out |
Okay, so here it goes. Some of you have heard me mention in the past that I've had some weird days with my blood pressure being low and just not feeling good, etc.
I was getting ready to leave for my Dr. appointment today and I had a major pain in the back of my head, then it went down my back and eventually faded. I was feeling like my heart was racing and I was a little short of breath. I got my shoes to put on and then started seeing spots (stars). I hadn't bent over and stood back up or anything like that. So, anyway, I just was feeling weird and funny. I tried to take my blood pressure and the stupid home monitor read an error and didn't give me a reading. I was about to be running late so I just got my stuff and left. I was going to Dr. anyway.
I called my husband on my way and told him I thought something weird was going on with my blood pressure and explained to him the strange symptoms that I was feeling (and again...I've had these symptoms off and on for the last two months). I had to stop for gas and was rushing. I think maybe he thought I was just stressing out.
Strangely I decided to email my Mom at 11 pm LAST NIGHT and ask her if she wanted to meet me at the Dr. to sit in on the ultrasound. She had another appointment to be to by 11:30 and my appointment was for 11 am so she thought yah...I try to stay for it and squeeze it in. Even stranger was that my carpool person had called me as I was getting dressed and left a message that she could pick the kids up today (usually she takes and I pick up), because she had to go to the school for a meeting anyway. I didn't call her back right away as I planned to call her back AFTER I got out of my appointment. LOL!
So, my Mom and I are sitting in the waiting room and it is now 11:15 and we are thinking she is probably going to have to leave and just then they finally call me back to U/S. About 5 minutes in to my U/S I started vocalizing that I wasn't feeling well, was dizzy, clammy and weak. They told me to lay on my left side instead of flat on my back and they continued the U/S. Well, I wasn't improving and wasn't feeling any better. By the time they completed the U/S (they usually send you back into the waiting room to wait to see the Dr.) I asked them if there was any way that the nurses could get me straight back as I didn't think I could sit in the waiting room (I needed to lay down). They checked with the nurses and told me there were no rooms at the inn. LOL! So, I start on my way out to the waiting room I walk out of the U/S room and both nurses are standing there and apparently I didn't LOOK well either. I think once they saw how I looked it changed things. Plus right at that moment a room opened up. They cleaned it up REALLY QUICK and took me straight in it. Hooked me up to a blood pressure machine that takes your blood pressure at regular intervals. They also put monitors on my belly to monitor the baby. (She was doing just fine..it was just me). At one point my blood pressure was as low as 69/fifty something. Slowly it finally came back up.
Then it was off to Labor & Delivery. My Dr. sent me over to L&D for further tests and monitoring. Got stuck with an IV, lots of blood work (my sugar was high...so weird because my glucose test came back low when I had it done), urine test, & an ECG on my heart. I think I finally got released around 2 or 2:30. I don't even really know.
So, I am home now. Not on bed rest but I AM told to take it easy for the next several weeks and not to overdo it at all. Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
On the baby front....they weren't able to see any hair on her (but we were in a hurry and didn't spend much time), they estimate that she currently weighs 5lbs. 12 oz. (really small if you ask me), and she did turn back to a head down position.
I didn't get a chance to get checked by my Dr. at all for dilation or anything else. So, I won't know about that stuff till next Thursday now.
Whew! I'm tired.
