05-5-2009 - Not sleeping anymore

My mood while writing this blog:
exhausted and exasperated

We are having a really tough time of it all lately. Keira seems to be teething and is not herself at all. She doesn't sleep at night very well any more. She had been sleeping through the night. I don't even know what to do or try any more.

We were doing the Ferber cry it out method and it was working until the night before last when I checked on her after 10 minutes and found that she had rolled to her belly while swaddled and was face planted in the mattress. It freaked me out so bad that I stopped the method and decided last night that she needs to be unswaddled to be safe. So last night she wouldn't even go to sleep. I finally put her in bed with me and nursed her to sleep. She stayed with me until 11:30 pm when she was kicking and hitting me so much that I couldn't sleep at all. So I took her to daddy who couldn't get her to sleep much at all. I took her back at 4:00 am. It has been a rough couple of nights. And last week wasn't good either and daddy was gone that week so I was doing it alone. But, now I am just scared to put her in her crib at all when swaddled and she doesn't sleep when she isn't swaddled. I am so tired, confused and lost.

So sorry to hear things are getting rough! The only thing I can think is to maybe try a wedge, so you know she cant roll over to her belly? And I just started using these teething tablets. They dessolve almost instantly and you can see a difference very quickly to. Morgans drooling is cut in more than half when she has them, and she doesnt seem to munch on her fingers as much either. I got them at walmart. Hope it gets better for you!

sorry to hear that Kara. I wish I had some good advice for you. Jacob slept well last night but most other nights he wakes a few times and we give him the pacifier and then he is fine, but even that gets exhausing after a while. I get nervous too because he rolls to his side when he is sleeping and I'm afraid he's going to wind up on his stomach like Keira because he doesn't turn his head to the side when he rolls over. His crib is in my room but if I'm asleep and don't hear him that I assume everything is fine. Sometimes I wake during the night and check on him but last night I was comatose till the alarm went off. If you think she is teething maybe you could put some baby orajel or give her humphrey's before bed time to ease her discomfort ?
