| 08-9-2009 - UTI at 19 weeks and horrible discovery of first stretch mark! | My mood while writing this blog:Not too bad, got it early! |
Hi Everyone, hope i'm finding you well....
So for a couple of days i've had a really painful back which is nothing new, i regularly suffer from a bad back since a car accident a few years ago. Then i started needing to pee more often yet hardly doing anything and then it started to burn. I've suffered from it before so knew the symptoms of a UTI however i also had a kidney infection when i was younger and that included a bad back. Got really concerned as a kidney infection is not good news when your pregnant as it can cause the baby to be premature and small.
So i visited the doctor today, and after a mammouth wait of 2 and a half hours and a urine test a UTI was confirmed, but not severe enough to be a kidney infection thank god, the bad back is just a bad back. Doctor reassured me that it was very common to get both back ache and UTI when pregnant. UTI is common due to muscles relaxing and bladder not emptying fully so bacteria can build up easier.
Anyway, due to an allergy i have to Peniccillin i can't take the regular anibiotics that are passed through the kidneys, and i cant take antibiotics that are harmful to the baby, so i've ended up with an antibiotic that goes through the blood stream which isn''t as effective. Erythromycin if anyones heard of it?
Got to take them for 5 days and if not effective will have to take antibiotics i'm allergic to as well as antihystemines. Not looking forward to that! So fingers crossed.
Anyway thats my most recent drama in what is being a very challenging pregnancy so far, but this isn't that difficult to deal with really, not in any discomfort now i've started taking the antibiotics, so hopefully they are working!
I'll keep you all updated, hopefully you'll find this useful if you go through anything similar.
OH! Almost forgot, I found my first stretch mark today, right at the front of my tummy. Not happy! I have some cream but i confess i havent really been using it as i havent put any weight on yet. My tummy has grown a bit but not much really, not for 5 months anyway! Going to start slapping that cream on now! I must have grown more than i thought! Anyway, thats it, sorry it's such a long one. I'll speak to you all when i've had my 20 week scan which is on September 16th at 3.45pm!
Till then ......x x x
