| 23-9-2009 - 21 week consultant appointment | My mood while writing this blog:Not bad.... |
Hey lovely ladies,
Ok so to update i have to see a consultant due to previous miscarriage and because there is alot of diabeties in my family.
Today's appointment was at 1.30pm and eventually got seen at 3pm! I'd forgotten my pregnancy notes too which was a disaster as the consultant had not alot to go on, she could only really take things at face value. My Blood Pressure was fine, the babys heartbeat was good, and my belly size is perfect, then came the telling off.
As you may know i've suffered with sickness quite badly and lack of appetite and as such my weight has dropped 7kgs since i've been pregnant. I told the consultant today as i'm getting a little worried about it and she said i have to force myself to eat more food. How am i supposed to do that? Your either hungry or your not right? Well i told her my energy levels were just non existent and she basically said as kindly as she could its my own fault because i'm not eating enough and my body is basically in starvation mode which is why i'm low on energy and loosing weight. I've been advised to drink slim fast drinks for the good energy and proteins in them and to eat slow releasing carbs, and not to eat sugary sweets and drink fizzy drinks for energy like i have been doing as my energy levels will just yo - yo if i do that. So i'm going to take on their advice and just eat 2 mouthfuls of food if thats all i can manage and eat slower releasing stuff and less sugar. See how it goes.....
Secondly i have to have the screening for diabeties. These are 2 blood tests. One i'll do on Tuesday and the other in week 26. I have to eat breakfast and then have the blood test within 2 hours for the test to be accurate. This is just precautionary as diabeties is in the family, fingers crossed they come back ok!
So thats it for now, next appointments are
Blood test: week 21
Midwife: week 24
Blood test: week 26
Consultant: week 28
That's it, not looking forward to the blood tests, eeeeekkkk! Keep well all, kate and bump, x x x
