My mood while writing this blog: Ok |
Hey Lovely Ladies,
Let me start by telling you all last night was my third night in a row with only 3 hours sleep. This cold is just awful and makes what was already difficult (getting comfy in bed) even more so! I'm feeling so tired and grouchy now, and my wonderful boyfriend told me my under eyes are dark and that i have bags now . How observant of him! This was just before he said i had 'sausage fingers' due to the swelling in my hands! Don't get me wrong he's not trying to be hurtful, he just comes out with things sometimes. Good job my sleep deprivation hasn't taken away my sense of humour!
Well anyway, today was midwife day, and everything is fine. BP normal, Urine fine, babys heartbeat strong. She said Aimee's head is right down now and won't go down anymore until i'm in labour so she's ready. Her back is to the left as i'm looking down at my bump which is i guess why all those painful kicks i'm getting are on the right! She moves less often now but when she does, they are monster movements and sometimes i think shes going to take the alien route and just pop right out through my skin.
My fundal height is bang on for 37 weeks and my midwife said she would estimate that Aimee will have a birth weight of around 7.7 - 8lbs. She said its hard to tell because i have such a tall torso so the baby has plenty of space to hide in there, but she said as i'm literally only carrying baby weight and have no weight gain anywhere else that she'd guess about that. My total pregnancy weight gain is 7lbs so maybe shes right?
She also said not to get my hopes up of having an early baby. She said just think of your due date as 12 days over due and then you can't be disappointed. Does she know something i don't? I hope she's wrong! She said if i get to 40 weeks she will offer me a membrane sweep, which she has explained today so that i'll have time to think about whether i want it. If anyone has had one can you tell me all the details and whether it hurt? If that doesn't work i'll be induced after 12 days so however i look at it, i should be in labour by the latest of 15th Feb. So thats 28 days away, still practically a month! Ughhh!
Anyway, thats about it, good luck to all the mommys also close to giving birth, congratulations those who have given birth you lucky things! And for all the others anywhere in between, x x x

Friday, 22 Jan hiya chick! i had a membrane sweep, they are definatley worth having, but they do hurt a bit....well i say that but i guess it depends on what the person is like and what ur pain threshold is like,im a pansy with pain infact im shockingly pathetic with pain and i refused the sweep at 1st but my partner told me to have it as i was 6 days over due so i had it and i was petrified,i cud of cryed lol it made me go dizzy like i wanted to pass out thats how shocking i am with pain lol!but when it was done i was glad,as next day i was in slow labour, then i was booked in 2 days after that to be induced,so.....id say have it if it comes to it,and ur little one doesnt want to budge.which most 1st babies never really do till ur over due and they get the eviction notice from the midwife lol x proud.mummy.of.3xxx -

Monday, 18 Jan Hey sweetie, Glad all is well with you and Aimee, Everything sounds perfect! Your lucky if you've only put on 7lbs because you have to calculate the babies weight plus the weight of the waters the thickened womb etc... so your likely to have in total about 15lbs or over all in, cause its not just the baby that makes up the weight as soon as you give birth you will find then that you should be lighter than you expected if you think you total gain is only 7lbs cause when the waters come out and the afterbirth after the baby then you will be alot lighter then bonus! Anyway i had 2 sweeps and they did without a doubt work and yes they are uncomfortable, but thats because she is putting i think 2 fingers up there inside your opening of the cervix (oh and it has to have dialted on its own a cm or 2 before they can perform it!) And she will in a circular swooshing motion sweep the membranes, this does hurt a lil bit and i was scared too but wanted him out being overdue at the time and after trying everything else i didn't care if it hurt, And she makes you make two fists and shove them under your bum to elevate you into a better position for her to do the sweep, I'd deffo have one or 2 again, As i was to be induced the day after i had him and im glad i went natural as induction hurts WAY More than going natural trust me i did both! I had 2 sweeps because the first one at 4 days over due my midwife did and it got things going i started loosing my plug straight away! ( so a tip i'd suggest is that you take a pad as if it takes effect straight away you may start to loose slimey blood and mucus! Yuk! I know but its a good sign!) Then that started me into slow labour i went to the next day having contractions every 10-15 mins then i had a gush of waters come out the day after and went to the hospital and my contractions were just over 5 mins apart so she checked me after waiting 3 hrs in triage!! Bloody Russels hall! And said i was 2 cms and did i was making progress but they won't keep you in until your 4cm's or over and in established labour! So she said do you want me to do another sweep whilst im here i said yeah why not and omg! That moved him down more i felt him drop further into the birth canal (even though like you i was told he won't go much further! Yet) And lots more plug came away i couldn't be without a pad the last 2 days before i had him believe me when that starts to come away you know about it and baby's not far behind usually! then after that sweep the contractions picked up steadily through the night and i slept right thru to the next day the day he was born i was woke by every pain but thought i'll hang on see if my waters break! Foolish as they didn't break at all i was pushing at the hospital and they still wouldn't break and they popped them for me! So then then i woke up at 10am took a paracetomol put a hot water bottle on my tum had my tea and toast then a bath then after that i couldn't stand it no-more went to the hospital after feeling the urge to poo with every contraction *note* thats a sure sign that baby is iminante and get to the hospital lol! As when i got there i was 9 and a half cm's and was told to push when i was wanted to result! I only hope yours is as trouble free as that hun and i didn't have time for pain relief and to be honest it didn't seem that bad in the end! I know that prob sounds crazy but its true! Sorry its so long but what im trying to say if it wasn't for those sweeps and the same happened with my sis who was 10 days overdue im sure i'd of been more than 6 days overdue as he would of kept me waiting and believe me the longer their in the fatter they get thus harder to push out! Ouchy! lets hope she comes along very soon good luck hun! xxxxxxx RainbowRach -
Monday, 18 Jan lol your bloke sounds like mine, always coming out with 'helpful' observations!! lol. OK, I am the QUEEN of membrane sweeps, I had four.....or maybe five. It all depends on who does them but only one of mine (by a male doc) hurt, the rest were totally fine. To be honest if you go overdue you will probably try anything to get the baby out!! hehe x x x emauk -
Monday, 18 Jan good luck hun..I've never had a membrane sweep..but it doesn't matter if it hurts or not because it's supposed to start your labour which is going to hurt anyway..lol..if I ever got to 40 weeks and the midwife offered one..i'd be so so so ready..and I'd probably ask for 2 to be sure..haha..luckly for me I had both my babues at exactly 38 weeks 4 days..(which is rare..)..take care hun..not long now..and you will be just fine..just go with the flow..and if they offer you an epidural..they are great..pethadin is alright..it makes you sleepy and able to deal with the pain..but doesn't get rid of the pain..take care..Xxx
