01-2-2010 - No sweep!

My mood while writing this blog: Annoyed

Hi all,

Am so peed off today! Got myself all prepared for a sweep this morning. I got like 3 hours sleep because I was so nervous/excited. And then midwife said no sweep today!

I'm not officially 40 weeks for 2 more days but I was assured that wouldn't matter by a different midwife that I saw last week because my usual one was on holiday. But she said as I wasn't 40 weeks yet and I had a few contractions early last week that she wanted to give the baby chance to come on her own.

I asked if I could come see her again wednesday as Id be 40 weeks then and she said to wait until next monday as usual. By then I will be 5 days over. She said if baby hadn't come by then that she would do a really good sweep - whatever that means. I think she just didnt want to do it because she was running late and should have left the surgery 15 minutes before she even saw me. Then she spent most the time on the phone to someone having problems breast feeding and left the poor student midwife to do all my checks. I was so annoyed with her today I felt like saying, "I'm important too you know!"

So I have 2 days until I'm due and 7 days until I see my midwife again. She tried to perk me up by saying she would probably come on her own in the next week but how would she know and after saying she'd do a sweep and then not doing it I kind of take what she says with a pinch of salt now anyway.

Well, lesson learnt - not to get my hopes up. She will come when she comes and I may as well prepare myself for a wait of at least another couple of weeks. It's not all that bad and I know Im being impatient but I cant help it. I'm going to try and get a good nights sleep now and hopefully I will wake up feeling better tomorrow.
