| 03-8-2009 - it's a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | My mood while writing this blog:happy!!! |
well I went in Saturday for an ultra sound of my gallbladder. I asked the tech if she would mind sneaking a peak at the baby---she said "no problem" and was really nice. The first thinkg she said was "would you like to know the gender"---I said yes. She said "well what do you have at home"?....I said a little girl. She said "well congrats you will now have one of each its a boy"! I was so happy I got a tear in my eye. She then spent 5 minutes looking at the baby---pointing out the profile, stomach, liver, legs, feet, arms and hands. She looked at the heart and at first could not see 4 chambers---but then finally got a good view and saw 4 chambers fine. She said at 18 weeks it can be hard to see the heart as it is so small and that they recommend people wait until 20 weeks to have the anatomy scan done. (mine is this Friday I will be 19 weeks and 3 days according to my LMP). I had my gallbladder scan done at a private location and not the hospital and I would go back there in a heartbeat. The women spoke to me, told me what she was looking at and was so nice. At the hospital all I get is "I am sorry I cannot tell you anything based on NYS law". It was all very breif though so not a real indication if all is ok.....she just showed me things. (and no pics as I was only having a gallbladder scan!)
My gallbladder is ok--no gallstone- she told me it is just "low functioning" and this should return to normal after pregnancy. But for now it means a low fat diet. (which isnt a problem as fatty foods make me sick!)
Ok so yesterday I saw my aunt who works as head of a labor and delivery ward near the high risk hospital where I will have my level 2 u/s with a periontologists on Friday. She was surprised I was going directly in to see the periontologists. She said at her hospital they refer people to them when their 20 week anatomy scan shows a problem. I am not sure why I am going directly to them apart from because of the medication my hubby is taking potentially causing a mutant gene in the baby--but the genetic counsellor said this risk was small. Now I am so nervous that this level 2 u/s will be so specific it will pick up a problem. Guess they will just look at the baby in a lot more detail than they normally would. Has anyone had a level 2 u/s? what was it like? Prayers for healthy babies for all of us!
