so i had my 1st app yesterday. i'm devestated to report that i have a detached placenta [partial]. so dr was really blunt and said i have a really high risk of m'c and IF i make it to 20 wks i will get another u's to check the degree of seperation and go from there. he also suggested we get some genetic tests done, which would include an amnio...i said no. he is not going to monitor my pregnancy closely at this point because he said if something before 24ws theres nothing they can do anyway. if after 24wks they will em-c-sec to try save my baby. he checked button yesterday, and at that point he was ok, moving and heart beating so that was a bit of relief. but my hubby is going to buy me a doppler so i cn keep an ear on the heartbeat myself since dr doesnt wanna see me for 11 more weeks. so pls pray for button that we can least make it thru the next 15wks.

Can you go to a specialist? I don't think your dr is giving the attention a condition like this warrants. It is pretty serious. I will be praying for you. Good luck and take it real easy!

Katie...I too would look into another doctor. This doesn't sound right at all. I not only would look for another OB but for neonatologist as well, which is a high-risk pregnancy doctor. You need to be seen every four weeks just like any other pregnancy. I'm hoping for the best for you and button.

Your Dr should still see you at least every 4 weeks like any pregnancy, this is your baby and all could be fine and everything should be done that can be. I would look into another Dr for your own peace of mind to have baby monitored. Your baby deserved the same prenantal care as any. Take care you are in my prayers.
