It's definately your body getting ready. I had intense period like cramps for a good week before Ryan was born.

Hey, well when I was in labor, the contractions felt like horrible I mean horrible period like cramps, very very intense, so it's probably some contractions. So you might be close to labor.....or in the early stages of labor, good Luck :)

I've been having period type pains on and off for about a week now i think so i thought id google "period type pains at 38 weeks" and near enough all the messages on different websites say that its a sign of slow labor!
Its definately not braxton hicks.. i've been having those aswell they are not painful and my belly doesnt tighten with these period type pains.. i seem to have the pains consistently - like for an hour at night or something.
Anyone have any idea what this is? Im hoping it is a sign of labor.. my prediction was he'll be born on the 8th November which is saturday! Yet my midwife said im only 1/5 engaged the other day so i don't think he'll be here that soon!!!
