18-5-2009 - First scan...concerned

My mood while writing this blog: hopeful

So I had my first u/s today...a vaginal one, which is fine. I went into the office and let the woman know that my LMP was March 27, but my cycles have been off since I gave birth (6 months ago). They've been up to 35 days....so I was either 7 weeks + pregnant or 5 weeks +. When she did the u/s she said I was very early on, and it was too soon for a heartbeat. Then she said that the doctor would go over everything with me. I knew something was up because last time I got a picture of my little bean, and this time nothing. When she left the room, I took a look at the computer and saw an empty sac. I waited to be called in the room and the dr. met with me. He asked the same questions and I explained to him that my cycles have been longer since PJ was born. He said that I was measuring 5 weeks 6 days, and the embyo wasn't there. Needless to say I was very upset, but then he assured me that if my dates were off, then this can still be a viable pregnancy. I believe that it would be called a blighted ovum if a fetus never develops....and I pray thats not the case! So I go back next Tuesday to see if there's a baby and also a heart beat. I know people go through these things all the time, I just hope that it works out in the end. So 7 days until we can see if this is a 'viable pregnancy.' (thats what the dr. wrote on the u/s prescription.)

Im sure it's just to early! keep thinking good thoughts and i'll keep everything crossed! I hope the next 7 days go by super fast! try to find fun things to do! Only read the people who have had the same thing and everything worked out great that will keep your head in a positive place :)
