12-5-2009 - Name

My mood while writing this blog:
Really Sad

Well I am ashamed to say that I'm giving in to the pressure and I'm not going to name the baby Bibi. Originally my husband said it grew on him and he liked it and agreed to it, but the last few days he's been insinuating that he still doesn't like it so I can't fight him along with everyone else. The worst part is he won't give me any other suggestions, he's just saying "you made the decision what to name IT" and acting weird about it so I'm at a loss. I'm not trying to be stubborn, but I felt strongly about that name since the very beginning before I even knew for sure that it was a girl and I just can't think of her as anything else right now, but I guess I'll have to get over it. I can't force a name on the baby that my husband can't stand. And I am so tired of people's negative reactions to the name anyway. What sucks now is that when we tell people we have another name, they will say "oh good, you decided against Bibi" and that will really make me mad. Probably the best thing is to avoid the topic for now. I realize the important thing is that we're having a healthy baby, but I am sad. This is how it is in our household all the time. My opinion doesn't mean much. Sometimes I feel like I'm just here to bring in the paycheck and help with the chores. That a whole different story, though.

I would tell DH that if he doesn't like the name you choose you are perfectly open to one he likes but if he can't come up with one "Bibi" it will be because you can't think of another name. In the meantime secretly seek out another name and keep it to yourself for a while. If he still doesn't come up with one tell him your other suggestion and use "Bibi" as a pet name. I think that if you think your daughter would like the name, don't mind what others think. Good luck.

Cheer up! It does sound frustrating, but soon I bet a name will come to you that both you and your husband can agree on. He can't just shoot your name down without offering others though! You still have time- we didn't officially name our daughter until 2 days after she was born. Keep smiling. She will be happy and healthy and her name will fit her like a glove. (Avery is a nice name...)

AWW! :( I really liked the name Bibi!!! I think its adorable! Its not other peoples decision on what you name her anyways! So who cares what they think! If that was your gut instinct on what her name was going to be then stick that, dont change it to make other people happy! xo love, and I hope all goes well!!
