20-6-2009 - The pressure is on....

My mood while writing this blog:

Hey ladies! Congrats to all the new mommies & evidently I will be joining you shortly. Let me tell you about my past week. Well on Tuesday we got some bad news that my husband is being laid off. His last day is to be June 30th. Bad timing to say the least & very difficult news but we have been praying about it & are putting it in God's hands. The stress has put some strain on me physically though. I've been having constant headaches & a few nose bleeds. Also some dizziness & spots in front of my eyes. So I went today for my 39 week checkup & my BP was 155/108 which is pretty high. Also I had gained 6 pounds in one week. That along with the other symptoms I had led my doctor to have me go to L&D after my appointment to test for preclampsia. She also added,"if they send you home tonight I can schedule you to be induced on Monday if you want." I was pretty surprised at this offer but decided to take it. I kept an open mind & went to L&D knowing if my tests were bad I would deliver tonight but if they were Okay I would be having my little boy on Monday. The blood work came back fine but my BP continued to be elevated. They decided to send me home. I was pretty relieved because if Max was born this weekend my doctor would not have been delivering him. She is back on call Monday so it was a comfort to know she would be there. I will admit knowing when Max will come has relieved me of some stress, however I do have some great concerns. As of today I have had no contractions & my cervix is closed. On Monday they will be inducing me with pitocin. I'm afraid because my body is not naturally ready that I will have a longer & harder labor. Also the risk of fetal distress & having a c-section will be increased. You have to admit that there is no substitution for good old mother nature & I hate to rush things, however I also know my health is at risk if I wait. So again I put things in God's hands. Please keep me & Max in your prayers & I will update as soon as he arrives. Good luck to all the other mommies in waiting...

sounds like symptoms of preeclampsia - stay off your feet and drink plenty of water - an induction may be the best thing at this point even though it's not ideal =( recovery is hard enough as is...

You, Max, and your husband are in my prayers! I am sure everything will be just fine. I can't believe that Max will be here in two days. Girl it seems like you have been preggers forever, lol! Good luck with everything!

I will also pray that god watches over you and baby with what ever he feels is best. As well as your husband and a job. God has amazed me on so many occasion that I have come to accept that he really does what is best for us even if we don't understand it at the time.

I know what your saying about being induced... my doc said if i dont have her by monday as well we will induce and in terrifed and relieved at the same time and for the same reasons as you. Tho most women i tell this to who have alreday had children and been induced say its no biggie and that most women use potocin.... this dont really change my mind! Good luck hun and your in my thoughts and prayers keep me updated

We will have you, your husband and little Max in our prayers. Sometimes we have to help mother nature along especially if its going to help your health and also your baby's health. Don't stress about things that are not in your power. As you've said just trust in God, he has provided so far, allow him to continue. May God watch over you and your family now and always
