26-6-2009 - Max's B-day

My mood while writing this blog:
tired

I went in for induction on the 22nd at 6:00 am due to my elevated BP. At that point I had no cervical changes or contractions. They started me on Cervidil to open my cervix. This also started to cause some contractions. At about 7:00pm my cervix was about 4 & the doctor broke my water. They also started pitocin and called for the epidural. From that point on it was pretty rough. I ended up having the epidural placed 6 times. The doctor who placed it said I was the most challenging case he ever had. Several placements didn't take at all. Twice it worked but wore off within 2 hours each time. Luckily it was during those times I was able to try & get some rest. After the last one failed my contractions started to get extremely painful. Unfortunately at this time it was not possible to get any pain relief because my labor was so far along. I ended up having a vaginal birth without any pain relief. I did not tear or require sutures. Luckily I had a great team egging me on. My husband & my mom were there & all the nurses & my doctor were great. At 8:31 am Max was born. 9 pds 7oz & 21 inches. He had a full head of hair & was beautiful! At this point I thought it was over. It wasn't. I ended up hemoraging a great amount of blood & my BP dropped to 74/43. I ended up getting a blood transfusion. According to the nurses I looked pretty bad. I thought I wasn't going to make it. We stayed in the hospital until Thursday & now are home. I am extremely swollen with fluid and am still pretty weak, but God is looking after us. It was all worth it. We have a beautiful baby boy!

Congratulations on the birth of Max!!! Whew!!! That was a big baby to have to deliver with no meds!!! Love the birth story. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!

I am so happy to hear your birth story had such awonderful ending and now you have a happy beginning with the new addition to your family. Please continue to keep me and my little girl in prayer. She is still on the insidee but I lost about 50% of my amniotic fluid. The goal is to kepp me pregnant at least 6 more weeks. I lookk forward to sharing my happy birth story w/ you in 6 more weeks.

I had similar experience with my first child, my uterus wouldn't contract back after delivery and I bleed out for about twenty minutes. I too thought I was going to die. I kept passing out and coming to, very scary stuff. They wanted to give me a blood transfusion but I was 17 and scared of one and refused. But you have a beautiful lil man now and he makes it all worth while!! Congrats again to the both of you!

OMG! SUCH A BIG BABY AND DIDN'T TEAR!!! Neither did I tear but my little man was only 6.5 and I didnt have any pain relief either. I'm sorry you had to go through so much but you are still highly blessed and favored.

Congratulations to you and your husband. You did a wonderful job. Sorry you didn\'t get the pain relief you needed but it makes for a good guilt trips for Max :). May you heal quickly and get back to your old self - God\'s Speed! He\'s so cute I wanna bite his cheeks :)
