| 24-6-2008 - questions??? |
My mood while writing this blog: content (for now) |
so I have two unrelated questions for you fellow pregos......
a.) has anyone heard of (or had) any experiences with "round ligament pain?" Sunday morning I woke up feeling like someone was stabbing me in the groin/upper leg area (on the right side)... Of coarse I convinced myself that I was having a miscarriage and we almost hulled ass to the ER... Well, we both looked a little on line before we left and determined that I was having this round ligament pains... the round ligament is attached to your uterus and something else and apparently it can be painful when it stretches... It sounds like it's not uncommon at all..... However, it is more common during the 2nd trimester (but not impossible during the first)..... Just wondering if anyone has felt this (it doesn't feel good!)..... It went away though (for now)
and....
b.) does anyone know if pregnant people should (or should not) ride on jet ski's??? Today I was at the beach and my sister and her boyfriend came with a jet ski... My mom threw the biggest fit when I went for a very mild ride.... Has anyone ever heard anything?? We didn't go that fast and the lake was very flat..........
thanks!
Kelly

Wednesday, 25 Jun hey kelly,
- yes round ligament pain is quite common. I haven't had much yet with this pregnancy yet but had it with my last. you can also get it in your hip joints because your joints loosen with the preg hormones so things can shift around. no need to worry :-)
- as for the jet ski, I probably wouldn't do it but then again I'm not a big fan of those things anyway and am also very paranoid about doing something which could injure me or bub. I think you need to just take a judgment call in terms of how secure you feel. if you think there is a chance you could fall hard in the water then don't do it but if you feel pretty confident and weren't doing anything extreme then it should be fine! legomyprego -
Wednesday, 25 Jun I have had experience with uterine cramps...they feel sort of prickly cramping in my lower abdomen. Though they only last for a few seconds, they are a little painful..Other than that i haven't had the round ligament pain.. I'm still in first trimester though.
The second question..moms are always way more protective over us when we're carrying their grand children...and have those old wives tales of everything under the sun we're not supposed to do.. I think it was fine..as long as you weren't going extremely fast ya know? I think you're doing fine. Take care MommyNhuDPrice -
Wednesday, 25 Jun Hi Kelly,
Hmmmm i have no idea about Quest 1. But as for Quest 2..... Lemme tell ya... my mom won't even let me wear high heels or reach for anything up high.... But that's my crazy mom.
I think as long as you take the precaution of not getting into a situation where you may fall or by chance 'injure' yourself in any way.... if its a lake and it's flat, shouldn't be a problem. But if you were goin like 60 mph and get flung off the thing... then yea... not so bueno.
Well that's my 2 cents. I'm still taeboing much to my mom's dismay :)
