11-12-2008 - baby shower/sensory overload

This past Sunday was my baby shower. My husband and I both have big families so I knew there would be a lot of people. It was amazing! We had over 100 guests. I just couldn't believe it when I was opening gifts. They seemed to be never ending... I felt guilty that I couldn't spend time appreciating each one.. It was like a baby extravaganza.. The shower was a brunch and the theme was monkeys/jungle. My mom made 3 foot tall palm tree centerpieces for the tables. Each had a stuffed monkey hanging from them. Because everything went so quickly and was so overwhelming I didn't get to take any pictures. I do remember posing for some so I'm hoping people email them. During the shower I began to get nervous that I was over stimulating my baby.. He didn't move the entire time.... That evening when I finally laid down to relax he made up for it :) It was like he knew he just won the baby lottery and was dancing for joy! haha... I've been sorting through everything since Sunday and trying to figure out what needs exchanged.. So far, I have a lot of newborn/0-3 months clothes that I'm gonna take back for bigger sizes. I also got two swings, 2 bassenets, and 2 play yards.. So, I have to figure out which to keep. This really may have been the happiest day of my life so far (not kidding)... My wedding was happy but my parents could not be there.... There were even points when my husband and myself got choked up... Who would have thought a baby shower could be so exciting!

So, on another note, I've gain 24-25 lbs so far... Where's everyone else at??

thats so awesome u had a great baby shower! mine was last weekend and it was so much fun also! i posted some pics on my profile. its such a relief to know u finally have everything u need. all ive done so far is wash the babys clothes and bedding. ive folded it all but thats as far as ive gotten haha and as of my last doctors appt ive gained 25 lbs i think. im 5'6'' and i was around 125 before i got pregnant so they really want me to keep gaining at least a pound a week til the end. it seems like a lot to me but my body is having no problem packing it on now lol u seem to be right on target too!

Wow girl....baby is set! Well Ive gained 15 lbs as of yesterday. But its all going to my hips:) LOL

That is awesome! I got a lot of things too, but we only had about 30 guests, so I still need to get stuff for my baby.
I was at 15 lbs a week and a half ago, but it was a shock to see that I had gained 4lbs in 2 weeks! I will see where I am at on Monday.
