20-5-2009 - week 29 updates!!!! just there..My mood while writing this blog:
just there..

hey ya'll- i have been so quiet i know but am so busy with work. however i try and get on here at least everyday and read all that you are all going through. First of all congratulations Larry's lady for getting your angel...she is adorable and to all those who are near- AM SO JEALOUS!...to all those who are like me- let's tag along soldiers....11 more weeks doesn't sound thaaat far.

well some of you know that am in Kenya in Africa and things are different here with regards to maternity and child birth. for one, we don't do the 3 hour glucose test. i dont even know what that is. then, we see the docs once every month regardless whether you are 36 wks or 11 wks. (saves us themoney though) hehe. But somehow the babies arer born and in great health.....i went for my 28 week check up and everything is fine. i have added a total of 9 kgs (18 pounds i think) and the doc seems to think me and baby are fine.

Also a big day in my life was april 18 when my boyfriend brought his family home to meet my family. as simple as that sounds- we go ALL OUT on this occasion. it is very symbolic in our culture because once a man does that it is considered that he will marry the girl. its a crazy ceremony with a lot of traditional rituals and was alot of fun, for example, i wasn't allowed to see him until the end of the day. so i was "hidden" in a room with my girls and once ina while my aunties would pop in and tell us whats happening on the other side. he had to state his intentions (marriage)..say why he wants to marry me and pay a fine for making me pregnant before marrying me...all these infront of all my uncles and older relatives......its all done in good fun though.......then finally when i am brought out am all covered up from head to toe and so are my girlfriends then he is asked to pick who he came to ask her hand ....its a tense moment for abit coz we are all covered up but my toes give it away (coz he knows my toes hehehehe)......anyway its really a fun day. now according to both his family an dmine we rae engaged. i am not allowed to date anyone else and so is he. the next day will be july 18 when we get married traditionally coz in our culture once he pays dowry- we are married. Really looking forward to that....and two weeks later- BABY!!!!!

I cant wait to be a mom. am sure all u first time mom's feel me on this. it's truly a blessing and i thank God everyday that He is giving me the opportunity to bring life into this world.

it was a long one huh? sorry for the long read. keep writing those blogs coz am reading them and very encouraged by you all. God bless you and the babies......

That was a really cute story. My BF is from Ghana and hadn't told his parents yet about the baby. Do you think it has something to do with tradition? He's told his brother and all his friends though. Also, Can you think of any good names for a boy? We don't really care for Ghanaian names, but something from Africa would be nice...

Glad to hear you and family are healthy and happy. Have fun with all the upcoming festivities!

Wow! It's so neat to read and learn about other cultures. Very interesting. Congratulations on the engagement and upcoming marriage!
