Happy 1 Year Anniversary!
It has been exactly 365 days since I joined this site and I am very glad I did. The site was recommended by my best friend Jennifer when she began he own TTC journey.
What a difference a year makes!
In that time, Jennifer has gotten pregnant, delivered and begun raising a beautiful boy named Braidy.
I have planned a wedding, gotten married and have been enjoying life as a newly wed.
Similarly, I have had another close Friend, Linda who has gotten married and passed 6 months of wedded bliss. And a few other acquaintances who have become engaged or gotten married this year.
I have a former co-worker (Aida), a do-worker of John’s (Andrea), a former good friend (Amanda) and a beautiful new friend (Ashley) whom have all gotten pregnant this year. Aida had a boy, Amanda will have her girl in March, Andrea is just about to find out the sex or her baby and Ashley is only 7 weeks along. I wonder what glorious surprises she will uncover in the months to come. (It’s hilarious that all of their names start with A!)
I have also grown closer to my mother. Which strengthens my own decision to become a mother.
And although it hasn’t happened for John and I yet, I know it soon will and that it will happen. It feels so good to have my diagnostic tests almost done and a clinic that (so far) has my best interests in mind.
I just wish I had these tests done sooner! They would have saved me a lot of worry! I wish that every woman would have some of these tests done at 19 and then every 5 or 10 years thereafter. What does it hurt to have an ultrasound to know your tubes and uterus are fine? Or a STD/HIV screening to ensure you are disease free?
My advice to everyone is to take control of your own medical care. Ask every hard question you want – it’s your body and you should know what is going on! If you want a test or, if you don’t think you should have a procedure done, voice your opinion. And if you don’t like a doctor or feel that they are not the right fit to help you meet your goals, CHANGE! Life is far to short to be in the dark. You deserve to have your dreams become reality!
I’m also glad that I met all my new friends on this site. Although I plan to soon change from TTC to Expecting, I intend to stick with this site and support all of you!
All the best to everyone for another great year!
Take care,
Keri-Jade
