| 16-11-2011 - Happy Birthday to Me | My mood while writing this blog:complacent |
It's funny how being a mom changes things. I thought my birthday was going to start at midnight. That's when my hubby woke up on the sofa and asked me if I was ready to go off to bed. Much to my surprise that's exactly what we did. He rolled to his side, stole all the covers, and began snoring quite loudly. lol My phone began vibrating on my end table shortly there after. It was my little brother. He had stayed up just to call me after midnight. He wanted to be the first to wish me a happy day. lol And he was. Poor boy sounded so exhausted but I appreciated his thoughtfulness.
God was gracious and aloud Logan to sleep in... For the first time in forever he actually slept straight through the night! What a wonderful gift. I woke at 6:10 to the tiniest of whispers.. "Mommy, you snuggle me?" Of course I couldn't resist and soon he and I were curled up watching Elmo in bed. (Daddy still snoring) The girls woke shortly after that and both gave me some hand made cards. My oldest says "Mom if you had $100 for every time I loved you you'd have $1,000,000,000." Boy I wish that one was true. LOL And Madison thanked me for always taking care of her. Together we sat eating breakfast, me watching their smiling faces as I sipped my orange juice. It's funny what the conversation turned to. "Mom, is this your best birthday ever?" and "Mom, how bout we just order pizza tonight so that you can relax on your birthday?" finally I got the best question ever... "Mamma, you birthday you me $3?" lol I quickly asked Logan why he needed $3. "Mamma, you me ice cream?" hahahahaha. love my boy, Ice cream would have been great at 7:30 this morning. It's funny how much this little breakfast meant to me. My husband and I laughing with our children.
Years ago, before my children I would have wanted to wake to biscuits and gravy, cards, gifts, flowers... I would have had my whole day planned out for weeks. How I was going to pamper myself, get my hair and nails done, go out for a few drinks with friends, and spend, spend, spend... It's funny how as a mother this was the perfect morning for me. Now my plans for my birthday are quite simple. Go over all the grocery adds, compare with the coupons I have, make list and save, save, save. Maybe do some laundry, dishes, vacuum ECT after I get home. I'd like to snuggle with Logan at nap time and with less then 5 weeeks till delivery, maybe nap myself. This sounds like perfection to me. Yes, I may pick up a $7 cake for after dinner probably something easy for my husband to place in the oven and just let cook. But even us mom's deserve a day without having to cook. I hope you all get to enjoy your day as much as I already have mine.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
