I am so concerned for the well being if our new baby. I started having contractions this past Thursday at 23 weeks and 4 days. The doctor politely told me and my husband that with my history of pre-term labor I would probably continue to have contractions until the day our son was born. What he wasn't saying was that I had pre-term labor 4 times. Of which I lost 3 other babies. I am so scared. I don't want to loose our little boy. It's funny we both wanted a son so bad but neither one of us can agree with the other about his name. I don't think I can handle loosing another child. Not this far along. And I really don't have the heart to tell my husband how scared I really am because I know he will feed off of my emotions. No I had a follow up visit and the are finding that my sugar levels are off too. Which accounts for how big he already is. The doctors are trying to reassure us that if we deliver early that should be ok since he's already a big boy. But I don't find any of this reassuring. I just find it all very stressful and even more overwhelming just waiting. All I can do is just pray every day.

I read your comment on the 24 week forum, and I just wanted to let you know that I've been on bedrest since week 18 for having contractions. I get them nonstop, sometimes every 4 to 5 minutes. This is my 3rd child and both of my boys have been premature. With my youngest I was in a hospital from week 22 till I deliver at 32 weeks. With that said, are your contractions changing your cervix? And have your doctor discussed with you getting the fetal fibronectin test? Its a very simple test done to at risk women for preterm labor which, if positive, indicates you have a risk of going into labor within two weeks, but if negative, you have piece of mind that you won't. They usually do them after the 24th week, I had my first done yesterday and I'm stil waiting on the results. If its negative, they'll repeated every 2 weeks until I deliver. This helps your doctor manage how aggressive they'll treat you for preterm labor. With my youngest I had a positive since the first one they did, hence I spent 10 weeks in hospital, but had it not been that way, I wouldn't have made it. Sorry is so long, but I know how anxious you feel.. And don't feel bad for seeking help when you need it. Good luck..
