| 07-7-2009 - My family just left | My mood while writing this blog:So Sad |
I can't believe they're gone already!
So my family had to leave early today. This is really hard for me. See my dad owns his own business and ever since they arrived on Friday his phone has been ringing non stop with clients and employees. He's the President / CEO so if he doesn't go then they loose money. It just stinks because they weren't suppose to go home until Friday. Booo Hooo. Ok enough wining. Everyone can have a pitty party every once in awhile.
So anyway we did have a lot of fun though. They arrived on Friday and we went over to the Waterfront event. The kids rode rides and played games and my parents and I help with the Olivia stand for my niece. (Which was a big hit.) At 9 pm we all watched fireworks together. Awesome! This was incrediable for me because as a kid my parents took us every year to see fireworks and this time I was the one taking them. All 5 of the girls absolutely loved it. Which was great cause they can never agree on anything. They are 12, 10, 9, 7, and 5. The best part was when we got home because the girls were so tired they actually went right to bed.
We had a picnic on Saturday for the fourth and the kids spent the whole day in the pool. Sunday we went to the Statue of Liberty and Elis Island. If you have never been I definately recommend it. Just make sure you get there early or you definately will not have enough time to see everything. Since my family is from PA this was a special treat. My mother had never seen her before and when the boat pulled around to dock at Lady Liberty she began to cry. I am so glad I was able to give her that gift. Yesterday we went to a local amusement park where you could get a good deal. The kids must have road everything at least three times. My father even got into the spirit of things and bought everyone an ice cream cone. Again the kids came right home and went to sleep.
Lastly was today. And that was my most favorite thing. We went to the beach for the whole day. My dad taught the girls how to body surf. My husband had a swimming contest going on with all the kids. My mom and I got to have wonderful conversations on our blanket while my youngest played on the beach digging holes and building sand castles. We only stayed on the beach for four hours since they needed to come back, shower, eat, and drive home but it was definately my favorite part about their whole visit. It reminded me of when I was a kid and helped me realize how many traditions I have already passed on to my children. I miss them terribley already.I wish so badly we could live closer. It made me cry to watch their car drive away. Maybe one day I can move back home. Or atleast closer to my family. Until then these breif moments are the memories I will cherish forever.
