02-9-2009 - Not for the faint of heart

Ok so before you start reading this I am going to warn you that it is very hard for me to share and extremely personal but I really need some advice on what to do. If you don't like when people share TMI you probablly wont want to read this, however if you would like to help me out on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Earlier today my husband and I desided to take advantage of our alone time. With my contractions since we hadn't been intamit in quite a while. It was a bit uncomfortable but he was able to finish and I was happy with the fact that he still finds me attractive at 9 months and wanted to well you know. Anyhow, about an hour and a half later I was out in the garden pulling some weeds. When all of a sudden I felt a warm gush. I was quite imbarrassed as my husband was out there with me. I ran inside to the bathroom and even though my panties and pants were soaked, as well as having some running down my legs I just wiped it away and that was it. Nothing more then that. This was about 5 hours ago. The contractions I am feeling are not curling my toes. They are not coming more frequent then they were on Friday. I called my mom and leaving out what happened earlier with my husband she told me that she thinks my water broke and to just hold tight at home until I can't stand it anymore. I know it may sound odd but my water never broke with my girls and neither did my moms with me or any of my siblings so I really don't know for sure what is going on. I am not screaming in pain and I really don't want to call the doctor if there's another explination of what may have accured. Oh yeah and I really don't want to go to the hospital just to sit for hours on end. I can do that here.

So I guess what I really need is some advice from those of you that are still being intamate. Has this happened to any of you? Does anyone out there know what is going on? Please any advice you can give me would be great!!!

that definately sounds like waters breaking! semen has a chemical in it (i think it's progesterone) that can thin the lining/sack around baby. i'd be straight to the hospital for observation. even if they send you home again to wait it out at home atleast they know and have checked that baby is ok. it can be very dangerous if left too long.

Hope you are feeling good, but do not take my word for it..it has not happened with me, but I have heard that it might be the mucus plug, because if its like watery and milk like guuuyyyeee stuff, then it might be mucus plug, but if I were you I would go and have it checked out, so you can have your mind at rest...goood luck hun

Well I am not doctor and mine did break with my daughter but it was a leak with every contraction it was like I wet my pants. But by the time this happened I was dyiing to get to the hospital with contractions less the 3 mins apart and stong. If I were you I would hold out till I was contracting strong but not more then about 12 hours then I would at least call cause I would be scard of a dry birth that can affect the baby and the labor process good luck xoxo

Like everybody else, I think you should go and get checked out. It could be your water or just your husbands semen. Either way, it's better to be safe than sorry!Good luck!

With my first my water didnt break but with my second child it did so you neer know I wouold go and get checked out...Good Luck with everything

well I think it's just semen...I've had/felt that before were a while after having fun some comes out and gets my panties and actually soaks through my panties to my pants. From my understanding if your water breaks it's a big gush and it trickles on/off for a while...but it doesn't hurt to call and ask your Dr. Good luck

Yea I would def call your doc, that sounds like water breaking to me. They may tell you to wait a bit to see if contractions start, but especially if it was a gush they need to know...... Sounds like your little one may be here soon! Call your doc and let us know what happens!!!! Good luck!

You should go to the hospital since your not sure if its the water or not...Well if its not the water at least you know for sure....To me it sounds like your water just broke....

i was always told by my doctor that if your water breaks to call them to see what you need to do because they dont keep the baby in there more then 24 hours after or you can get an infection!!!

Oh WOW! sounds like your broke to me..that's how mine went! Don't worry about the sex thing..it really isn't even an issue unless you think it was only "man juice" and not your water. They do want you to go to the hospital right away to avoid infection..I did, however my girl friend called her doc, took a shower, shaved her legs, had her hair braided, drove her son to her sister's, etc..then went in. what ever you decide to do I would suggest calling your dr. GOOD LUCK HUN!!!!

Is it continuing to flow or has it stopped? When your water breaks, I was told, it should not stop. The only time that my water broke on its own was with my 1st and it never stopped trickling, and got worse with contractions and my movements.

Kick, I just read your blog and I definitely think your water just broke!! I would call your doctor and see when they want you to go in to the hospital. Some doctors want to deliver within 12-24 hours after your water breaks and others want you to wait it out. Usually they will check you to check the position of the umbilical cord to make sure it didnt get pulled down when your water broke.

It could have been your water breaking but it's hard to say. When my water broke I had a pretty big gush and then it continued to leak out for quite a while all the way to the hospital. By the time we got to the hospital 5 minutes away my pants were soaked again even after the initial gush. So I would think that if it were your water breaking that it would have been more than just what you were able to wipe away. But I don't have much experience with it. I know you don't want to go to the hospital but they can do a simple swab to check for amniotic fluid.

i would call your dr to see what they reccomend. my first thought is it could have been semen dripping out but since you are so close to ur date it very well could be ur water. they will prolly have u come in to be checked because if it was your water that broke and you go too long with out delivering...it could be dangerous for baby.

I would say that was your water breaking..I really think you are in labor!When I asked my nurse how to bring on labor..she said "have sex"...so that may have preceded it!!GOOD LUCK!!
