22-1-2009 - Pregnancy Update!

My mood while writing this blog:
Great!

Ok, so I am now 9 weeks and 1 day! YAY!!! I can't believe how fast the time is going. So yesterday was my second appointment with EVMS/MFM (Eastern Virginia Medical School/ Maternal Fetal Medicine) for my diabetes work up and they put me on insulin, YUCK! I now get to give myself 5 shots a day!! Whoo Hoo! but I am ok with it cause it is what I gotta do for the baby! : ). So anyway, today was a follow up appointment with Lakeview Medical my normal OB/GYN and they told me that due to my high high risk status (says the doc) and now with me being put on Insulin they are sending all my prenatal care to the EVMS/MFM department. Also, I will be induced at 38 weeks not sure why, the doc said that is what MFM docs sent them in my first work up appointment. Other than that all is well, I am on LOTS of medicines Heparin, baby Aspirin, Insulin, Metformin, CitraNatal DHA (which is two prenatal pills) and I have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day for now.
Baby and I are doing great!

Maybe early induction because of possible big baby? I have heard some do that but I haven't heard of them deciding that so early. I'm glad to hear that you and baby are doing well though.
