09-1-2009 - Miscarraige? SadMy mood while writing this blog:
Sad

We started trying for a baby just before christmas.

My period was due on tuesday and usually you can set a clock by it, it was late so I took a pregnancy test. It showed a faint positive. We were both excited.

I got a little obssesed and took a total of 6 tests (I know crazy). One was a negative but all the others showed a faint positive. i took them hoping that it would get stronger.

Last night I started bleeding. The blood is red which I know is not a good sign. But at this stage I am hopeful as I haven't had any cramping or clotting.

I'm not sure what to do. Do I go to the doctor knowing that an early scan would be to soon to show a baby.

Did any of you have blleding like this in your pregnancies? Also I am 99% sure that this is to late for implantation bleeding, and surely before implantation I wouldn't have had a positive pregnancy result?

I just keep praying that by some miracle this will all work out fine.

Hi Helen,
long time...... How are you? I have hardly been on this site in recent months and just popped on and found your blog. How exciting to see you are trying for baby no.2!! I think about baby no.3 often, but know I need a year off. We are going to try again oct/nov. Well, just wanted to reply to your blog. I don't want to scare you, but thought I would share my experience. I had a m/c between my babies. When trying for no.2 I got pregnant right away. Tested at 4 weeks, and got a positive. Was over the moon. 10days later had 1 spot of blood (and of course panicked! but was told just to rest and not to worry). That night went to bed, at 4am got up to go to the toilet and blood just poured out of me! I mean literally. I didn't have any cramping what so ever, but jumped in the car and went straigth up to the hospital. I was admitted (it was a very miserable experience for me as the hospitals were in disarray and didn't actually get seen by a doc until 11.30am, but won't go in to all that. Basically I had no cramping at all until after lunch that day. I had very heavy bleeding, just kept getting heavier and heaver throughout the morning and was very red, but still no cramping. The docs told me if there was no cramping then it was a good sign! But was also concerned about the amount of blood I was losing. About 2pm cramping started and it was horrible. Had a scan at about 4pm to reveal I had a blighted ovum, which is an empty egg sac and no baby developing inside. I was distraught!!! We were really sad for weeks. So hating to say, my mc started without any cramping. But I know a good friend who has had lots of bleeding throughout entire pregnancy so far and is fine, she is now in 17weeks. How many weeks would you be then? Can you go and have a scan? You could see your midwife if you have one, to get referred, or go to doc. . It is probably too early to see a baby, but I guess you should probably wait and see what bleeding does... The other thing you could do is have your HCG levels tested and then again in a few days to see if they are doubling . I reckon the faint line on your test was because you were testing so early. When did you test? Keep me posted Helen and I have my fingers crossed all goes well for you.
How is it going in New Plymouth? Have you settled well? I was meaning to write to you ages ago and ask about it all, but xmas was crazy, had family up from chch so we were very busy. Where did you spend xmas? How is your gorgeous little Toby doing?

Well hope all goes well for you both. Drop me a line any time and if you have any questions about what happend to me I will be happy to answer them. take care. I will pop in to the website more often to see how you are doing. Tracey OX

Sounds like maybe a chemical pregnancy? When I had a chem, you get a positive, but there is never any implantation. You could have your doctors check your hcg levels, maybe?
