My mood while writing this blog: ok |
So I have had my dog for 4 years and she's been my baby. I'm not one of those dog people who goess all crazy about her, but she still has this way to make me melt. Ever since she was brought home she has had my undivided attention. Before I got her nobody bothered to tell me that Pugs need to be very close at all times to their owners......meaning on my lap, on my shoulders, sitting next to me, sitting on my feet, walks right next to me at all times, follows me to the bathroom, jumps in the shower with me about twice a week, and I can't forget about the seperation anixity that she has. Now I know I should have corrected alot, hell all of this when she was a puppy. But I didn't because none of it really bothers me. Actually sometimes it's funny and then other times she is just plain pathetic.lol I love my baby girl to death, she's my little 25lb. lap dag.
Once I found out I started having my little talks with her about when the baby comes. She just looks at me, tilts her head backs and forth. I'm trying to prepare her for when the baby has my attention, she is so going to be jealous. she gets jealuos now if someone touches me now, so I know this is going to be all kinds of fun when the baby comes home. I am really hoping for her to adjust quickly to the new addition to the family, but yet doesn't act out in any way.

Saturday, 7 Mar lol.....I know all to well where you are coming from there because I myself have a pug and so does my mother, and they both are the same way, but let me tell ya that she won't do anything my pug baby that is now 2 years old and I had him since a puppy as well...hasn't done anything when in fact when I had my first son I thought omg this dog showers with me he crys and whines at the door no matter if someone else is home he wants me and only me.....he sleeps against me or behind my legs or above my head, and he has been treated like my baby for all this time and here was due to have a baby myself and he didn't even know what one was, but he did great outstanding might I say, pugs are a very smart animal and as long as they see that you are happy, and giving them love and talking to them at least here and there which isn't hard to do...lol....they adjust really fast to the new baby around........cause now my son being 14 months old, he beats up on our pug pulls his tail pats him (smacks him) pets him and does aww puppy with him and all and pudge does great with him loves him to death actually pudge will start to play with my son while they are up with each other, and Ayden will throw toys for him and all, they get along great, and I have always given the both of them attention all the time, while Ayden was a newborn I would breastfeed and when you do that it seems like thats all you do all day long, but it's not really, I would take pudge outside to go potty, and play with him and then when daddy got home daddy would play with him and our friends, but when you came down to it none of that mattered because he wanted his mom so even at bedtime I would have pudge by me and play get the bug under the covers and then always talked to him telling him what I was doing with the baby like Example ( mommy is going to feed the baby pudggy baby is hungry) or you hear that the baby is crying pudge we better go get the baby he's wanting us) always involved my pug no matter what hell or high water and here we are today he loves Ayden to death and still loves me doesn't do anything wrong except when my mothers dog is in heat like now!!!!....lol.....but anyways and now he knows that i am about due to have another baby so he cuddles up to my belly everynight and I talk to him about the baby,,so i wouldn't be concerned at all because this breed is very smart I used to breed these dogs and they are great dogs I had 10 females and 3 males that I would breed all year long off and on and they are the best....I hate large dogs wouldn't give them a time of day in my home at all...YUK katey25 -
Saturday, 7 Mar Hiya,
I've got a 60lb german shepherd lol!
We've been preparing him for labour with a doll! As crazy as it sounds, we've been bringing her crib downstairs and putting doll in it to get him used to something different.
I also asked my sister in law to give me a baby grow which had been worn by my baby nephew so he could get used to milky smells.
Your doing the right thing getting her used to not having your undivided attention - there are some great books around.
I'm sure your lil pug will be great with your new arrival x brendalee -
Saturday, 7 Mar Awh I'm jealous...Pugs are so adorable, I've wanted one forever.
I was watching my friend's baby all week, and my dog completly ignored me until she left. Even when she was sleeping he wouldn't let me pet him or anything. It was wierd.
