11-3-2009 - Medicaid and these State Workers

My mood while writing this blog: amused

So this is a funny thing that happen yesturday...... no really it's not funny but I just have to laugh because it's just stupid.

Yesturday when the mail came there were 2 letters from The Dept of Human Services. One was for myself and the other was for my dad. Just so you all know why there was one for my dad. He had applied for food stamps about a month ago. He is 70 years old, retired, not in good health, only gets social security...which is nothing really just 879.00 a month. The mortage is 658.00...so he only has just a little over 200.00 to live on for the rest of the month. I have lived with my dad for 4 yrs because he has nothing extra....I pay the bills and put food in the house. But with me being pregnant, I had to leave my job about a month and half ago. I couldn't do my job phyiscally anymore.......driving & lifting luggage over 50lbs.

Anyways back to the state thing. I took my letter gave my dad his and went upstairs. Once I opened my letter my blood pressure went through the roof. This stupid letter from my "worker" states that as of 3/19/09 my Medicaid will be cancelled. The next sentance gives the reason how they have come to this conclusion: BECAUSE I AM NO LONGER PREGNANT.

WOW!!!! I'm pretty sure I'm still pregnant. I don't remember giving birth, going to the hospital, having any contractions, better yet I don't see the baby anywhere except in my belly. I'm pretty sure I would know if I HAD my child already. So I go downstairs and tell my dad what this letter says, he laughs and says look at his letter. I open his letter up and start to read it....I bust out laughing. I states that his Medicaid will be cancelled as of 3/19/09 because he is no longer pregnant. This is about the funniest thing that I've seen or heard of in a long time. One, he has never had Medicaid, two I never knew he could get pregnant.

So I try over and over to contact my worker, leave messages, even go to the office. No response to any of my messages. When I went to the office I was told that the case workers don't see people without appointments. My question was how can you make an appointment when they don't call back. Then they tell me, if you want you can sit and wait maybe they can see you, but the workers have to stay at their desk to catch up on work from 3:30p-4:30......the funny part about that is I was at the office @ 2:00pm. Oh and the other thing I found out....they don't return any calls on Wednesday's. So now I have to wait until tomorrow to try again and again, and again. I really need to get this straightend out because I am now on weekly doctors appointments, so i'll be covered for my next week appointment...but after that I'm not sure......Oh and better yet I sorta need the medicaid for the birth and then the six week check after.
