30-3-2009 - Trying not to worry

My mood while writing this blog:
a little bit concerned

So here I am sitting at 38 weeks tomorrow----towards the end which is GREAT!!!

But at today's appointment I got some unclear news....not good but not bad either. I went last Wednesday and had an ultrasound. Well today my doc let me know what the findings were. Aparently I have Placenta Calcification (aging of the placenta). From what she had told me this happens after delivery to the placenta, not during the pregnancy. The way that they guage our placenta's is on a scale from 1 to 3 and I'm at 3, I have a placenta that has alot of calcium build up on it, which again doesn't happen until after birth. Then she proceeds to tell me that my blood pressure has gone up---which concerns her. Normally my blood pressure is around 110/70 well not today, today it was high at 145/109 (mild hypertension category). So now she's concerned about this also.

So now I have to go on Thursday for a Non Stress Test. Which I am totally good with because I want everything to be ok. From what she said this is a procautionary test to rule out other factors like Pre elclampsia (spelling???). If my test come back being Pre Elclampsia she will admit me that day and I will be in the hospital until I go in labor----that will not be a good thing. So all day today after my appointment I've been thinking about what had happen and what I was told. Now I'm just freaking out. How am I suppose to go and have a Non Stress Test and not be stressed? That just doesn't make sense to me at all. I don't like the fact that my blood pressure jumped the way it has. So that right there is stressing me out. Now I have to sit around and NOT think about having this test done, that's so not happening, so again adding stress to myself.

The good thing that came from my appointment is-----baby is doing great. Everything is perfect in my doctors words. He's at the right weight, his heart beat is perfect, lungs are in working order, 10 fingers 10 toes. I haven't progressed any though, still stuck at 1cm with no contractions just nothing. So I'm convinced he's pleasantly waiting until he's good and ready. So hopefully everything will work out for the best on Thursday...cross your fingers ladies.

sorry to hear that hun.......I hope all turns out good for you and the bbay but if the baby has to come out then maybe it is better for him ya know what I mean.....Don't stress yourself out over it I am sure things will be ok since after all they are on top of things it sounds and they are testing you and the baby and that is great to hear.......ya have to read my blog at what i found out for myself today as well I am so happy

sorry honey, the good news is your not preterm so if you do have to go to the hospital you really dont have to worry about the baby because the baby is full term and ready and day... you will be just fine...

I hope everything turns out good, too. It sounds like your doctor is on top of it and is going to do what's best for you and the baby. Try not to worry too much. Are you going to try drinking rasberry leaf tea or anything to help stimulate labor? Good luck and let us know how it all turns out.

I had to go for Non Stress Test towards the end of my pregnancy, their not bad at all. You sit in a comfortable recliner and the monitor the baby's heartbeat, any contractions you may be having and any movement from the baby. At my last non stress test, my bp was 167/96...and they actually brought a dr in and she didn't like that my bp was like that just sitting there and made me go down for an ultrasound and the baby wouldn't move, so I failed this bio- test that they did. It's an ultrasound where the look at everything for 30 minutes and if they don't see everything that they need to see..you fail...So they sent me back up to the labor and delivery floor and told me I wasn't going home, and I was induced that day. I don't know why they didn't try inducing you already, if your having issues with your placenta and your bloodpressure was really high, your already full term...I don't know why they would want to wait any longer. I also wasn't dialating, until I was checked in the hospital... Well I hope everything works out and you get to meet your little one soon... Good Luck :)

Glad the baby's fine. If anything you are close enough if they had to induce you everything would turn out okay
