| 08-6-2009 - CRAZY HAPPENINGS | My mood while writing this blog:Tired and anxious! |
So, just an update on all of the CRAZINESS that is taking place in my life. I was going to wait to write again until next week when we will be 36 weeks and in the home stretch, but things have just gotten so crazy that I thought Iwould do an in "betweenie".
Where to begin, hmmmm, OK well I have about 5 weeks to go until the little one is due to arrive, YIKES, as if that is not enough stress. I have not had a baby shower yet, but know that my sister and husband have been planning one even though they deny it, I have been told that people have invitations. I don't know when it is going to be, but it is not this upcoming weekend because we are going camping for the whole weekend and then sneaking in Maternity pictures when we come back on Sunday. I was thinking that this would be the last really CRAZY weekend until Jr. arrives, but I was WRONG!!!!!!
My husband and I own a two family. We currently live in the bottom floor unit which is two bedrooms, but very large. We (I say we, mostly the DH) have re-done everything to be perfect, comfortable and convienient. We have had the same tenants in the upstairs apartment (7 bedrooms and HUGE) for the past two years since we bought the property. Anyway, last weekend I asked them if they would sign another lease, because their lease will be up July 1st. We were hoping that they would stay for one more year and then the plan was to move upstairs ourselves and have the two floor apartment with a lot more space to allow for both kids to have their own rooms and an office, etc. The catch is that apartment is not anywhere near in the shape that ours is, it needs some serious TLC!!!!!
Needless to say by the title of this blog, they can't afford to stay. There was one family that would have different roomates helping with the rent but they don't want roomates anymore, and they already paid VERY low rent for the size of the apartment. So, when I told them that we couldn't lower it anymore they said they would have to go! Great!!!!
So now I am thinking I am going to be out of work for four weeks, two of which will be without pay and then another four weeks of only part time pay before I have to put this little boy in day care, all the while paying an extra $100 a week for our daughter to be in summer camp, because, that's right, it's summer time!!!!!!!! Oh, and if I don't rent out that apartment by the 1st, two weeks before the baby is due (my daughter was three weeks early so there is a chance it could be the same week the baby is born) I will be trying to figure out how to cover our entire mortgage!
On Friday, I listed the apartment, on Saturday and Sunday I showed it all day, with my current tenants giving me the stink eye, like I kicked them out!!!!!! (sorry, but I am not going to pay more for my two bedroom because you want me to lower your rent in the seven bedroom, again!). On the bright side I have three sets of people that are very interested, so am confident that I will have it rented out (whether or not I can get the current tenants out is another story all together). Now comes the kicker! One of the sets of people that are interested are a young proffessional couple. Good right, quiet, responsible, will likely pay the rent ON TIME. So, I am thinking what the heck do they need seven bedrooms for? So, I offer them to take a look at our unit. They love it and want to move in there and pay what amounts to really good rent.
So now today, I am checking references on them first. If everything checks out they will be moving into our apartment (all nice and done over just the way I want it) and I will be moving upstairs into "habitable" land. BUt, ultimately that was the plan for next year anyway. So what that amounts to is.........Camping and pictures this weekends, getting a dumpster next weekend to clean out our extra garage stall so that the new tenants can move their "tiny" sailboats in (because I know that me current tenants will not get everything out of their two garage stall in time), moving our stuff upstairs the weekend after, assuming that I can get our current tenants out by then and having the new tenants move in for the first or the following weekend! Oh and then I will have one weekend before the baby comes (that week) assuming that he does not make an early appearance!
YIKES.....soemwhere in there is a baby shower, I hope, because at this point we have a crib, some blankets and some clothes.......we couldn't even bring him home and although I thought it would be great to go out and shop for him in the last couple of weeks, now, I am thinking that I don't really have the time or the money for that!
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE!!!!!
Even though our current apartment is big and nicly re-done it is only a two bedroom, so our son would be in our room and then napping and stuff in his sister's room until next year when we moved upstairs. If we can get everything done, this will just have us upstairs a year sooner. Both kiddo's will have their own rooms and they will have a play room as well so that our living room isn't used for that. Also we will have an office so our dinning room won't have to serve as a combo either. All and all eventually we will have that apartment up to par (as was the ultimate plan when we bought the place) and we will have so much space that we won't know what to do with it!
Anyone who made it to this point...Thanks and you must be really bored :o) Next week I will do a quick 9th month blog about how this pregnancy is finishing up, until then take care and good luck with all the craziness that I am sure is taking place with you!!!!!
