| 07-10-2008 - Ugh...What a Day | My mood while writing this blog:exhausted |
So i woke up late Friday at 11:20am. The first thing i did was go straight to the computer the check my messages. All of a sudden i got this urge to use the bathroom. After i had finished, i immediatley felt a low dull pain in my back. As i walked around and tried to loosen it up the pain got worse. As the pain progressed i started to feel nausious. I called my friend nikki, because she experienced labor twice already, and asked her what she thought of how i was feeling. She told me i should call the doctor right away. By then it was lunch time and my back was getting worse. The pain started on my left side around my kidney, went down toward my hip and shot around my lower belly. I swore i was experiencing early labor. The only thing that i didn't understand was why i couldn't count the pain like a contraction. It was steady and never went away. It only seemed to intensify. Anyway, i couldn't get ahold of anyone so i decided to call the maturnity ward at the hospital. By the time i finally reached a nurse i was in tears from all the pain. My friend nikki was by my side and my husband was on his way home. The nurse told me that the baby probably dropped or turned and it was putting pressure on my back. She told me to relax, take some tylenol and drink plenty of water and the pain should go away. I was so angry because it felt like no one was listening to me. This wasn't something that was just going to go away. I did as the nurse had said though. I took some tylenol, drank so much water, and climbed into the bath tub. For about 20 mins. the pains lightened up alittle. By that time my husband had arrived. He asked me if i was ok and i told him if the tylenol wore off and the pain came back i'd have to go to the hospital. He decided to leave to fill the truck up. Once he left the pain came back full on. I was in so much pain i was bawling and throwing up. I went to bed and rocked back and forth trying to make it go away. My husband came back and i told him it was time to go. We got to the maturnity ward and i was checked in. They hooked me up to the monitors and took a urine sample. The results from the urine test showed that i had blood in my urine but there was no infection. I was told i wasn't having contractions either. Then the doctor checked my cervix and told me i was completely closed. I was a little bummed. I was also told from the urine test that i was severely dehydrated. I asked the doctorr if that was what caused my back pain and she told me i was passing a kidney stone. Well no wonder i was in so much pain! So the doctor told me she was going to give me pain pills and send me on my way because theres nothing they can really do for me. I just have to pass it to feel better. Well, while the doctor was gone writing me up the prescription, the pain was getting worse. It got so bad, i started shaking uncontrollably and throwing up. Since i couldn't seem to keep anything down and i needed to hydrate myself immediately, they decided to hook me up to an iv. I was given stadol and some anti nausea meds, and fluids. While they were poking me they decided to take some blood as well. About two hours later after i had finally woken up, the doctor came back. She told me my blood test was normal and then she sent me on my way. I was at the hospital for 4 hours and when i got home i was still drugged so i went straight to bed. The next day i felt better so i went to my child birth class. That night the pain came back and i took some pain pills. Since then though, my back has been tender but that pain hasn't returned. Thank god!!! I guess i passed the stone, i have no idea. That was the worse pain i have ever felt. I'm ready to have this baby now. I had my practice pain session. yeah right!
Anyways, that was my wonderful weekend. Oh i had my doctors appointment today and everything seems normal. Her heartbeat was in the 140s. I measured at 33 weeks instead of 37 but the doctor didn't seem worried. Oh and i had my group b strep test, (or whatever its called), done today. It was a strange experience. I actually got to swab my own goods. Has anyone ever been asked to do that test themselves before? I just hope i did it all right. I also asked my doctor when i would find out how big the baby was so far and she said when she comes out i'd get my answer. Damn military doctors tell u nothing! My next appointment is in two weeks. Ugh... i thought at this point i'd be going in every week but i guess thats not the case. Oh well.
